Abstract
Claims
1. A lateral high-speed edge connector, comprising: A housing, which is insulated and includes a body and two connecting frames, the body being hollow and having a first opening, a second opening communicating with the first opening, an upper wall, a lower wall, and two opposing sidewalls extending between the upper and lower walls, the connecting frames extending from the body and respectively adjacent to opposite sides of the first opening, and each connecting frame including a top wall extending from the body and connected to the lower wall of the body, and a locating pin formed in the top wall and extending toward a bottom side; an outer shell surrounding the housing and covering the upper wall, lower wall, and sidewalls of the housing body; a plurality of upper row terminals and a plurality of lower row terminals, which are paired vertically aligned and configured to span the housing, wherein each pair of upper row terminals and lower row terminals has substantially the same length; wherein the upper row terminals are arranged in a row adjacent to the upper wall of the housing body, and each upper row terminal includes a first end and a second end; The lower row of terminals is arranged in a row and adjacent to the lower wall of the body of the housing, and each lower row of terminals includes a first end and a second end; wherein the first ends of the upper and lower row of terminals are bent to align with each other and maintain a distance from each other, the first end of the lower row of terminals is located between the first opening of the body of the housing and the first end of the upper row of terminals, and the second ends of the upper and lower row of terminals are bent to define an elastic clamping portion for elastic retention.
2. The lateral high-speed edge connector as described in claim 1, further comprising a main insulator disposed between the upper row of terminals and the lower row of terminals.
3. The lateral high-speed edge connector as described in claim 1 or 2, further comprising: an upper insulator disposed between the upper wall of the body and the upper row of terminals; and a lower insulator disposed between the lower wall of the body and the lower row of terminals.
4. A lateral high-speed edge connector as described in claim 1 or 2, wherein the body of the housing includes two wedge-shaped protrusions respectively formed on the two sidewalls, and the housing includes two side holes configured to engage the two wedge-shaped protrusions of the body of the housing.
5. The lateral high-speed edge connector as claimed in claim 3, wherein the body of the housing includes two wedge-shaped protrusions respectively formed on the two sidewalls, and the housing includes two side holes configured to engage the two wedge-shaped protrusions of the body of the housing.
6. A lateral high-speed edge connector as described in claim 1 or 2, wherein: The housing body includes a plurality of upper holes formed through the upper wall of the body and arranged in a row, and a plurality of lower holes formed through the lower wall of the body and arranged in a row; the second end of the upper row terminal extends into the upper hole of the housing body; and the second end of the lower row terminal extends into the lower hole of the housing body.
7. The lateral high-speed edge connector as described in claim 3, wherein: The housing body includes a plurality of upper holes formed through the upper wall of the body and arranged in a row, and a plurality of lower holes formed through the lower wall of the body and arranged in a row; the second end of the upper row terminal extends into the upper hole of the housing body; and the second end of the lower row terminal extends into the lower hole of the housing body.
8. The lateral high-speed edge connector as described in claim 4, wherein: The housing body includes a plurality of upper holes formed through the upper wall of the body and arranged in a row, and a plurality of lower holes formed through the lower wall of the body and arranged in a row; the second end of the upper row terminal extends into the upper hole of the housing body; and the second end of the lower row terminal extends into the lower hole of the housing body.
9. The lateral high-speed edge connector as described in claim 5, wherein: The housing body includes a plurality of upper holes formed through the upper wall of the body and arranged in a row, and a plurality of lower holes formed through the lower wall of the body and arranged in a row; the second end of the upper row terminal extends into the upper hole of the housing body; and the second end of the lower row terminal extends into the lower hole of the housing body.
