Abstract

An apparatus according to the present invention is provided with a suction pump which produces a negative pressure on a curved surface of a conveyor curved along a suction roller by drawing air from within the suction roller. Paper sheets which are conveyed by the conveyor are separated based on whether or not the paper sheets are stuck to the curved surface by suction.
