Fiber optic line communication networks and terminal equipment

Abstract

The invention relates to a communication network, optical line terminal equipment, and optical signal processing method. The communication network comprises a first optical line terminal, a second optical line terminal, and equipment located at the customer's premises. The second optical line terminal equipment can be connected to the first optical line terminal equipment at the upper layer via a passive optical network (PON) interface, and can also be connected to equipment located at the customer's premises at the lower layer via a PON interface. The communication network based on this invention allows users in remote areas to access broadband services. In addition, PON interfaces are characterized by point-to-multipoint transmission, and therefore transmission media can be saved and networking costs can be reduced.
