Abstract

A concave lens consists of a base lens configured to direct light to the first image plane; and multiple light-adjusting cells. One or more of these multiple light-adjusting cells refract light to a second image plane different from the first image plane, and / or one or more of these multiple light-adjusting cells refract light to a third image plane different from the first and second image planes. According to some designs, at least one of the many light-adjusting cells is configured to refract light onto at least two (e.g., 2, 3, or 4) image planes, in addition to the first image plane.
