Abstract

The invention relates to a sewing needle (1) which reduces friction between the blade (2) of the sewing needle (1) and the fabric and which can be produced economically in large quantities. The sewing needle (J) consists of a needle eye (3) and at least one slot (5), in which the distance between the upper edge (6) of the slot (5) and the horizontal position of the axis (12) of the needle eye (3) is different from the distance between the lower edge (7) of the slot (5) and the horizontal position of the axis (12) of the needle eye (3). In addition, the invention relates to a method of producing sewing needles.
