Abstract

The invention relates to methods, devices and systems for wireless communication, and specifically, methods, devices and systems for signaling and control of the physical layer (PHY). The first physical layer convergence protocol (PLCP) protocol data unit (PPDU) may precede the second PPDU. The first PPDU could be called the PHY-controlled PPDU and may include a physical layer control signaling field (CNT-SIG) informing one or more stations (STAs) about the physical layer configuration they will use for the second PPDU. The PPDLl PHY control may allow dynamic subchannel assignment to one or more identified STAs, successor STAs, or subband operating devices. The techniques of the invention may allow sharing of a broadband wireless channel by different types of devices or different basic service sets (BSS) assigned to different subchannels of the wireless channel.
