Methods and equipment for decoding video data

Abstract

The invention relates to a method and apparatus for decoding video data. The video decoder can be configured to output video data classes according to classes defined in the output class setting as well as based on classes actually received in the access unit. Therefore, the video encoder can be configured to output the actual received layers instead of restarting the video bitstream in case the actual received layers do not match the layers defined in the output layer setup mode. In another example, the video encoder can disable inter-image prediction when the sub-image ID of a sub-image in the encoded image does not match the sub-image ID of a sub-image in the reference image.
