Abstract

The invention relates to network devices and communication systems; belongs to the field of information technology; and refers to a scenario for implementing NAT (Network Address Translation) monitoring based on a separate BNG (broadband network gateway). The CP (Content Plane) device provides, to the NAT device, an IP address (Internet Protocol) assigned to the user. Under the activation condition of receiving the IP address provided by the CP device, the NAT device assigns a common network IP address to the user and reports the common network IP address to the CP device. The CP device adds the IP address assigned by the CP device and the common network IP address assigned by the NAT device to the billing packet and sends the billing packet to the RADIUS (remote authentication dial in user system) server. To report the common network IP address to the RAD1US server, so that NAT monitoring is performed on the RAD1US server. Because NAT monitoring uses the RAD1US monitoring method, this method is not limited to requiring a log server to be set up for NAT monitoring. Therefore, the costs of setting up a log server are omitted.
