Abstract

The process of decoding video involves the following steps: capturing and extracting bitstream information, determining the current block's prediction mode; identifying the set of interpolation filters to be used when predicting the current block, based on at least one of the current block's dimensions and the prediction mode indicated by the prediction mode information; and determining the reference location that the current block's color refers to according to the prediction mode. Determine, within the set of interpolation filters, the interpolation filter that corresponds to the reference position; determine the predicted value of the current sample, based on the reference samples of the current block and this interpolation filter; and restore the current block, based on the predicted value of the current sample.
