DATA TRANSMISSION METHODS AND DEVICES; COMPUTER-READABLE, IMMUTANT STORAGE MEDIA AND TRANSPARENTS

Abstract

This patent refers to methods and devices for transmitting media data and immutable storage media readable by computers. Examples of devices for transmitting media data include: memory configured to store media data; and one or more processors implemented in the circuitry and configured to: determine that the manifest file for media representation includes data representing the delta time value for the resynchronization element of the media representation segment; determine the coefficient of the delta time value; determine the number of segments of the segment currently available for retrieval using multiples of the delta time value; send requests to the server for segments of the segment that are currently available, including requests to omit segments of the segment that are currently unavailable; and store the data of the received segments in memory in response to the request.
