METHODS FOR ENCODING AND DECODING IMAGES AND COMPUTER-READABLE MEDIA

Abstract

The term "color reproduction" refers to the methods of decoding and encoding images and whether they can be read by a computer. This image decoding method includes: determining whether color reproduction mode is supported for the current tonal range in the image; downsampling the luminance range corresponding to the current tonal range to respond to the determination that color reproduction mode is supported for the current tonal range; obtaining correlation information with the color reproduction mode based on a predefined reference area; and predicting the current tonal range by applying this correlation information to the downsampled luminance range.
