Abstract

The invention relates to a method for encoding / decoding video signals and non-volatile recordings storing bit streams. The inter-image prediction method using time-union candidates may include the following steps: determining the reference image index for the current block; and inferring the time-union candidate block of the current block and calculating the time-union candidate from this time-union candidate block, wherein the reference image index of the time-union candidate can be calculated regardless of whether the block other than the current block is decoded or not. Thus, video processing speed can be increased and video processing complexity can be reduced.
