Abstract

The invention relates to a method and apparatus for encoding / decoding images. The method of image decoding performed by the apparatus may include steps to determine whether a first information parsing indicates whether skip mode is applied to the current block, to determine whether a second information parsing indicates whether Intra Block Copy (IBC) mode is applied to the current block, to determine whether IBC mode is applied to the current block based on the first and second information, and to derive a predicted block of the current block based on whether IBC mode is applied. Whether or not a first information parsing is applied may be determined based on at least one component of the width or height of the current block.
