Abstract
This useful solution refers to a procedure for isolating and purifying the coumarin compound toddalolactone from the bark of the mountain orange (Toddalia asiatica (L.) Lam.). The procedure includes ethanol extraction, solvent distribution with n-hexane and EtOAc, followed by purification by silica gel column chromatography with a suitable solvent system to obtain a high-quality toddalolactone compound. The isolated compound's structure was determined using high-efficiency HR-ESI-MS and NMR spectroscopy. The results of the biological activity evaluation showed that toddalolactone has antioxidant activity through its ability to scavenge DPPH and ABTS free radicals, and also has anti-inflammatory activity through its ability to inhibit inflammatory cytokines IL-1β, IL-2, and TNF-α. This useful solution has potential applications in research, pharmaceutical production, health food products, and herbal preparations.
