Abstract

This useful solution describes a process for producing an antibacterial extract from the stem of Actinodaphne pilosa (Lour.) Merr. using 70% ethanol as a solvent. The process includes the following steps: (a) preparation and processing of raw materials; (b) extraction with 70% ethanol, collection and concentration of the extract to create the extract; and (c) completion, quality assessment and preservation of the extract. The solution also describes the evaluation of the antibacterial activity of the extract using agar diffusion and microdilution in 96-well microstandard plates to determine the inhibition zone diameter, minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC), and minimum bactericidal concentration (MBC). The process, using 70% ethanol as a solvent, combined with multiple extractions and concentration using a vacuum rotary evaporator at low temperature, allowed for the extraction of an extract with a recovery efficiency of approximately 18.67%, consistent quality between production batches, and demonstrated antibacterial activity against the tested bacterial strains. The solution has a simple implementation process, is easy to apply, has low production costs, is scalable, and has potential applications in the research and development of natural antimicrobial preparations for the pharmaceutical, food, cosmetic, and post-harvest agricultural product preservation sectors.
