A sensor positioning apparatus

Abstract

The present disclosure relates to a sensor positioning apparatus for positioning a sensor relative to insulators in an insulator stack. The apparatus may include a base, a support member rotatably connected to the base, and a follower member rotatable relative to the base about a first axis and rotatable relative to the support member about a second axis perpendicular to the first axis. The follower member may support a sensor mount for supporting the sensor. A drive unit may rotate the support member about the first axis and displace the follower member along a camming surface provided on the base. The camming surface may transform rotation of the follower member about the first axis into its rotation about the second axis to move the sensor mount between a first position and a second position to monitor a first part and a second part of the stack, respectively, in use.
