Protection device for protecting a wooden pole

Abstract

A protection device for protecting a wooden pole against moisture-related problems. The protection device includes a liquid impermeable protective covering which defines a cavity which has a closed bottom end and an operatively upper opening leading into the cavity. In use, a bottom end of a wooden pole is inserted into the cavity via the upper opening. The covering is configured to seal off a bottom portion of the pole to thereby provide a waterproof barrier around the bottom portion. A sealing arrangement of the protection device is configured to seal an upper portion of the covering against the wooden pole in order to provide a waterproof seal which prevents or inhibits water from entering the cavity in-between a radially outer surface of the wooden pole and the upper opening. The upper portion of the covering is, in use, located above a ground level when the bottom end of the wooden pole is positioned inside a hole in the ground.
