Abstract

A reverse electrodialysis-driven forward osmosis lithium extraction system for high-altitude salt lakes and an operation method therefor, falling within the technical field of lithium extraction from salt lake brine. A system that couples reverse electrodialysis power generation with forward osmosis membrane technology for lithium extraction from salt lakes is developed. The reverse electrodialysis coupled with forward osmosis requires no consumption of external electrical sources and heat sources to achieve the net external output of electrical energy to meet the power consumption of the lithium extraction system from salt lakes. The gradient utilization saves the cost associated with draw solution regeneration. By deeply coupling reverse electrodialysis power generation with the forward osmosis concentration process, the cycle and cost of lithium extraction from high-altitude salt lakes are reduced. This system is specifically designed for salt lake lithium extraction on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau.
