Claims

A timed hydromechanical actuator for delayed event initiation, enabling operation as an actuator for various functions. This is achieved with selectable time delays based on the required protection periods. The device can be used in a variety of applications requiring a purely mechanical actuator to produce delayed event initiation.The actuator activates a push button of an electrical switch and contains a pressurized chamber (17) containing non-Newtonian hydraulic fluid, a depressurized chamber (18) containing a spring (10), and an orifice (15) made in a thinned wall (16) of a piston (3) that separates them and where said orifice (15) has a predetermined diameter, where the advance of the piston (3) at the moment of the release of the lock by extracting a pin (11) is produced by the passage in turbulent regime of the non-Newtonian hydraulic fluid through said orifice (15) from the pressurized chamber (17) to the depressurized chamber (18) by the action of the force produced by the compressed spring (10), such that said predetermined diameter of said orifice (15) determines the actuation delay obtained by the device.
