Claims

This disclosure provides a process for obtaining an antigen-binding protein or antibody against Klebsiella pneumoniae (K. pneumoniae) by immunizing horses with an antigen formulation comprising a set of K. pneumoniae strains and an adjuvant. The disclosure further provides an antigen-binding protein against K. pneumoniae obtained by this process, a composition comprising the antigen-binding protein, and applications of the antigen-binding protein and the composition in treatment, diagnosis, and detection. The disclosure also provides a combination therapy or a combination of the antigen-binding protein or antibody and an antibiotic.

1. A process for obtaining an antigen-binding protein against Klebsiella pneumoniae (K. pneumoniae), said process characterized in that it comprises: (a) immunizing a horse with an antigenic formulation comprising a set of K. pneumoniae strains and an adjuvant; (b) collecting blood from the horse after 100 to 300 days and isolating the plasma from the blood; (c) diluting the plasma with saline solution to obtain a dilute plasma; (d) precipitating the dilute plasma from step (c) with at least one saturated fatty acid to obtain a plasma-acid mixture; and (e) processing the plasma-acid mixture to obtain the antigen-binding protein against K. pneumoniae.

14. An antigen-binding protein against K. pneumoniae obtained by the process according to claim 1, characterized in that the antigen-binding protein is a polyvalent polyclonal antibody.

17. An antigen formulation characterized in that it comprises a set of K. pneumoniae strains obtained from the process according to claim 12.

18. A composition characterized in that it comprises the antigen-binding protein according to claim 14, and at least one excipient.
