Claims

A method for optimizing asset development using a rock sample and a test of interaction between the rock sample and the test fluid may include combining the rock sample and a test fluid over a period of time, where the rock sample originates from a portion of an underground formation through which a well is drilled. The method may also include obtaining a measurement of a hydrocarbon released from the interaction test between the rock sample and the test fluid after the period of time. The method may further include generating, using the measurement, a forecast of the hydrocarbon production potential for a portion of the underground formation from which the rock sample is obtained.
