Claims
A collar for the protection of the cervical vertebrae (11; 12) of polo players and other equestrian athletes, worn around the neck outside the player's uniform. It comprises a hoop-shaped body (14) and supports (16) on the shoulders where it rests, plus limbs (17; 18; 18') that project downwards from the hoop, defining points of contact (19; 31; 34) against the torso on both sides of the chest and back, to break down the force of a blow that causes the head or helmet (39) to hit the hoop and disperse its effects on the shoulders and soft parts of the torso. A superior protrusion (37) at the rear of the rim defines a contact zone (44) for the rim (38) of the helmet (39) in the event of a blow that moves the head strongly backward, setting a stop for the arching of the spine (11), thus reducing the likelihood of serious injury to the seventh vertebra (12).
