Claims

This disclosure relates to mRNA 6A demethylases modified with altered low-complexity regions (LCRs) for expression in plants, recombinant DNA encoding these demethylases, vectors encoding this recombinant DNA, plants containing these demethylases, and a method for enhancing plant growth by using these demethylases, including increased root growth and increased photosynthesis. This disclosure also relates to methods for enhancing plant growth, including increased root growth and increased photosynthesis, by modifying endogenous homologous genes of ALKBH5 to include altered LCRs, and to plants produced using these methods.
