Claims
The invention relates to a composition for use in an embolism therapy method and / or in the preparation of prolonged-release formulations for injection, comprising: a) a triblock copolymer of hydroxyethyl methacrylate (HEMA), 3-hydroxypropyl methacrylate (HPMA), and N-isopropyl methacrylamide (NIPAAM); and b) a contrast agent, preferably iodinated. The invention also relates to a process for preparing an embolic composition or a prolonged-release formulation for injection, comprising combining a triblock copolymer as described above, optionally in the form of an aqueous composition, with a contrast agent and a therapeutic product, and a kit for preparing said embolic composition or prolonged-release formulation.
1. A composition for use in a method of embolization therapy and / or in the preparation of prolonged-release formulations for administration by injection comprising: a) a triblock copolymer of hydroxyethyl methacrylate (HEMA), 3-hydroxypropyl methacrylate (HPMA) and N-isopropylmethacrylamide (NIPAAM); wherein each group of the triblock copolymer comprises a first block and a second block; wherein the first block consists of HEMA and HPMA and the second block consists of NIPAAM; and wherein the second block is either an extension of the first block or grafted onto the first block; and b) a contrast agent.
21. A process for preparing an embolic composition comprising combining a triblock copolymer according to any of claims 1 to 6; optionally in the form of an aqueous composition, with a contrast agent.
