Some embodiments of the present invention include a wear member assembly for a ground gear assembly. The wear member assembly may include a wear member and a base. The wear member may include a downward projection from a lower surface and having a first locking ramp arranged internally, separated from the first side face and the second side face. The base may include a bore extending from the second upper surface to the second lower surface and having a second locking ramp configured to contact the first locking ramp on the wear member. Each of the wear member and the base may have a locking receiving hole extending through them that aligns when the wear member is supported on the base.A safety pin can be inserted into the locking receptacles of the wear member and the base. The first fixing ramp of the wear member can contact the second fixing ramp of the base.
