SECURITY FOR THE DISCOVERY OF SIDE LINK (SL) MULTI-HOP RETRANSMISSION FROM UE TO NETWORK (U2N)

Claims

The embodiments include methods for a first user equipment (UE) configured to discover intermediate UE-to-network (U2N) relays that facilitate access to a communication network via a U2N relay. Such methods include obtaining the following Home Public Land Mobile Network (HPLMN) security material from the first UE: relay discovery security material associated with a second UE configured to operate as the U2N relay, and intermediate relay discovery security material associated with a third UE configured to operate as an intermediate U2N relay between the first UE and the second UE. Such methods include receiving from the third UE a message associated with the multi-hop relay discovery. The message includes a first portion generated by the third UE and a second portion generated by the second UE.Such methods include verifying the first portion based on intermediate retransmission discovery security materials and the second portion based on retransmission discovery security materials and, based on the successful verification of the first and second portions, processing the message content.
