Methods for preparing compounds of formula (A), or stereoisomers or tautomers thereof, or pharmaceutically acceptable salts of any of the foregoing, are also provided. Methods for inhibiting APOL1 and methods for treating an APOL1-mediated disease, disorder, or condition, such as kidney disease or diabetic retinopathy, in a subject are also provided.
