Abstract

Disclosed herein relates to a positive electrode for a lithium secondary battery and a manufacturing method thereof, wherein the positive electrode includes an insulating layer and a positive electrode active material layer sequentially on a positive electrode current collector, but has a cross-sectional structure in which the insulating layer is completely covered on the inside of the edge of the positive electrode active material layer. Accordingly, the positive electrode is easy to control the shape of the edge (or end) of the positive electrode active material layer, and the capacity per unit area / per unit weight of the end of the positive electrode active material layer is significantly reduced. Therefore, the positive electrode has the advantage of being applicable to various lithium secondary battery models because it is easy to control the N / P ratio during assembly with the negative electrode.
