Abstract

A robot is disclosed. The robot comprises: a sensor; a driving unit; a memory; and a processor which: if at least one wall is identified through the sensor, controls the driving unit to perform wall following that allows the robot to drive along the at least one wall; searches areas around the robot through the sensor during driving of the robot to generate a map of the explored areas; stores information on the generated map in the memory; and after the robot performs the wall following, controls the driving unit to move the robot to exploration points in order to generate a map of unexplored areas in the space where the robot is located.
