Abstract

A device for the innovative determination of an air quality indicator is described. According to one embodiment, the device comprises a computing unit (50) and sensors (51, 52, 53) for measuring temperature, humidity, and CO2 concentration, which are coupled to the computing unit (50). The computing unit (50) is configured to calculate a (single, meaningful) air quality indicator based on measured values for temperature, humidity, and CO2 concentration. The computing unit is further configured to calculate a first parameter that depends on the CO2 concentration, a second parameter that depends on both temperature and humidity, and to map the first and second parameters to a normalized scale in order to determine a first and second parameter, respectively. The second air quality value is obtained, and the first and second air quality values are combined into a single combined measure that represents the air quality indicator. For the calculation of the second parameter, the processing unit is designed to regularly record measurement points, each defined by a pair of temperature and humidity values, and to determine the relative frequency with which the measurement points lie within a two-dimensional area.
