Abstract

The invention relates to a heat storage medium for a central heating system, a heating system with such a heat storage medium, and a method for operating such a heat storage medium. The invention is characterized by a small heating chamber arranged at an angle of inclination of less than or equal to 10°, in which the heat medium is heated to a high temperature. The heated heat medium is then transferred to a larger storage tank, with the heat medium being fed into the storage tank from above, so that the hot heat medium stratifies above the cooler heat medium contained therein. This allows the heat medium to be heated to a specific high temperature easily and also enables the heated heat medium to be flexibly stored in varying quantities in the storage tank.This heat storage system contributes significantly to reducing the CO2 footprint of a building and is also very simple in design.
