The invention relates to a receiving unit (22) for a pneumatic tube station (10) for braking, in particular stopping, an incoming pneumatic tube box (18), comprising a brake tube (30), at least one brake lever (46), and a control device (44); wherein the brake lever (46) is movably mounted on the brake tube (30) and is positively guided by the control device (44); wherein the brake lever (46) is designed to be radially inserted into the brake tube (30) with a brake section (74); wherein the control device (44) is designed to determine an insertion depth (78) of the brake section (74) within the brake tube (30). The invention further relates to a pneumatic tube station (10) and a method (120).
