Abstract

The invention relates to a gas storage system (1) for gaseous fuels, in particular for a motor vehicle (2) powered by gaseous fuel, wherein the gas storage system (1) has at least one first main gas tank (11) and at least one buffer tank (14) and the first main gas tank (11) can be connected to the buffer tank (14) via at least one connecting line (15), and wherein a supply line (4) extends from the buffer tank (14), which is designed to supply at least one gas consumer (30) with gaseous fuel.In order to improve the usability of the storage system (1) and in particular to increase the range of a gas-powered motor vehicle (2), it is provided that at least one compressor device (7) is arranged in the connecting line (15) between the at least one first main gas tank (11) and the buffer tank (14), which is designed to supply the at least one gas consumer (30) with gas from the at least one first main gas tank (11).
