Abstract

The invention relates to a tool changer for a machine tool with a central shaft (4) and at least one tool gripper (5) for gripping a tool (11) arranged on the central shaft (4), wherein the tool gripper (5) can be brought into at least one open and at least one closed position by means of a gripper drive (1), wherein the tool gripper (5) is configured to perform a lifting movement along a longitudinal axis (L) of the central shaft (4) by means of a lifting drive (2) of the tool changer and the tool gripper (5) is configured by means of a rotary drive (3) to perform a rotary movement about the longitudinal axis (L) for picking up or dropping the tool (11) into or out of the receptacle of a tool magazine or a machine tool, characterized in that the gripper drive (1) of the tool gripper (5) can be controlled independently of the rotary drive (3) and independently of the lifting drive (2).
