Claims

1. A manufacturing method, comprising:incorporating at least one calcium-containing additive into a concrete mixture including aggregates prone to alkali-silica reaction; andcuring the concrete mixture to form a concrete product.

2. The manufacturing method of claim 1, wherein the aggregates include silica, and the calcium-containing additive suppresses alkali-silica reaction of the aggregates.

3. The manufacturing method of claim 1, wherein the aggregates include at least one of (a) silicate glass or (b) strained or microcrystalline quartz.

4. The manufacturing method of claim 1, further comprising identifying the aggregates as prone to alkali-silica reaction, and wherein incorporating the calcium-containing additive is responsive to identifying the aggregates as prone to alkali-silica reaction.

5. The manufacturing method of claim 1, wherein incorporating the calcium-containing additive includes adjusting an amount of the calcium-containing additive according to at least one of an amount of the aggregates or a reactivity of the aggregates.

6. The manufacturing method of claim 1, wherein the calcium-containing additive is a calcium-containing salt.

7. The manufacturing method of claim 6, wherein the calcium-containing salt is calcium nitrate.

8. The manufacturing method of claim 6, wherein the calcium-containing salt is calcium chloride or calcium nitrite.

9. The manufacturing method of claim 1, wherein the concrete mixture includes a cement, and the calcium-containing additive is incorporated into the concrete mixture in an amount of at least 1% by mass, relative to a mass of the cement included in the concrete mixture.2024219804   17 Sep 202410. The manufacturing method of claim 1, wherein the calcium-containing additive is incorporated into the concrete mixture in an amount sufficient to attain an initial concentration of calcium ions in a pore solution of the concrete mixture of at least 30 mM.

11. The manufacturing method of claim 1, wherein curing the concrete mixture includes forming a calcium-containing interfacial layer at least partially covering the aggregates.

12. The manufacturing method of claim 11, wherein the calcium-containing interfacial layer includes calcium-silicate-hydrate and calcite.

13. A manufacturing method, comprising:incorporating at least one divalent cation-containing additive into a concrete mixture including aggregates prone to alkali-silica reaction; andcuring the concrete mixture to form a concrete product.

14. The manufacturing method of claim 13, wherein the aggregates include silica, and the divalent cation-containing additive suppresses alkali-silica reaction of the aggregates.

15. The manufacturing method of claim 13, wherein the aggregates include at least one of (a) silicate glass or (b) strained or microcrystalline quartz.

16. The manufacturing method of claim 13, further comprising identifying the aggregates as prone to alkali-silica reaction, and wherein incorporating the divalent cation-containing additive is responsive to identifying the aggregates as prone to alkali-silica reaction.

17. The manufacturing method of claim 13, wherein incorporating the divalent cationcontaining additive includes adjusting an amount of the divalent cation-containing additive according to at least one of an amount of the aggregates or a reactivity of the aggregates.

18. The manufacturing method of claim 13, wherein the divalent cation-containing additive is a magnesium-containing salt.2024219804   17 Sep 202419. The manufacturing method of claim 18, wherein curing the concrete mixture includes forming a magnesium-containing interfacial layer at least partially covering the aggregates.

20. A concrete product, comprising:a binder;aggregates dispersed within the binder; anda calcium-containing interfacial layer at least partially covering the aggregates.

21. The concrete product of claim 20, wherein the calcium-containing interfacial layer includes calcium-silicate-hydrate and calcite.

22. A concrete product, comprising:a binder;aggregates dispersed within the binder; anda magnesium-containing interfacial layer at least partially covering the aggregates.

23. A manufacturing method, comprising:subjecting aggregates to pre-treatment to form pre-treated aggregates;incorporating the pre-treated aggregates into a concrete mixture; andcuring the concrete mixture to form a concrete product, wherein subjecting the aggregates to pre-treatment includes exposing the aggregates to a solution including a divalent cation-containing additive.

24. The manufacturing method of claim 23, wherein subjecting the aggregates to pretreatment includes forming a divalent cation-containing interfacial barrier at least partially covering the aggregates.
