FIELD OF THE INVENTION
[0001] The present invention relates to the field of heating and / or cooking. Particularly, the present invention relates to a firepit assembly. BACKGROUND TO THE INVENTION
[0002] Any reference to background art herein is not to be construed as an admission that such art constitutes common general knowledge in Australia or elsewhere.
[0003] A firepit or firebowl is a structure that is utilized to generate heat by burning a fuel source (such as coal or wood). A defining feature of a firepit is that they are designed to contain fire and prevent it from spreading.
[0004] Typically, a firepit or firebowl is utilized to provide a natural source of light and heat. A problem with a firepit or firebowl is that they are typically heavy and difficult to transport. Furthermore, cooking with a firepit can be inefficient and / or ineffective.
[0005] It would be advantageous to address one or more of the above issues and / or to provide the consumer with a commercial alternative to the presently available solutions. SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
[0006] In a first aspect, although it need not be the only or indeed the broadest aspect, the invention resides in a firepit assembly comprising a firepit compartment, a heating surface located above the firepit compartment; and a cooking chamber located below the firepit compartment.

[0008] In embodiments, the heating surface is located directly above the firepit compartment.

In this regard, the present invention comprises a heating surface above the firepit compartment and a cooking chamber below the firepit compartment. This allows for cooking above and below the firepit compartment, allows for effective use of heat and efficient cooking. Furthermore, the present invention also alleviates some issues associated with the transportability of firepits.
[0032] Shown in FIGs 1 and 1a are an embodiment of the present firepit assembly in an operational configuration. FIG 2 shows the components of the firepit assembly of FIG 1. The firepit assembly 100 comprises a firepit compartment 110, a heating surface 130 located above the firepit compartment; and a cooking chamber 120 located below the firepit compartment. In one embodiment, the cooking chamber is located directly below a base of the firepit compartment. The firepit compartment 110 is suitably defined by a pair of side walls 1010, a firepit compartment base 1020, a firepit rear wall 1050 and a firepit front wall 1090. In one embodiment, the firepit compartment is open at an upper end thereof. The firepit compartment is adapted to receive a fuel source and facilitate combustion or burning thereof.
[0033] An embodiment of the side wall 1010 is shown in FIG 3. The side wall 1010 comprises one or more air flow apertures 1011 adapted to provide airflow to the firepit compartment 110. The air flow apertures 1011 are adapted to align with the firepit compartment 110 to allow air flow therethrough to facilitate burning of a heat source / fuel therein. In a particular embodiment, the base 1020 is securable to the side walls 1010. It will be appreciated by the person skilled in the art that the firepit rear wall may comprise any number of heating surface engagement apertures for adjustment of the height thereof. A lower end of the firepit rear wall 1050 is provided with an angled extension.

In one embodiment, the firepit rear wall is securable to the side walls 1010 As mentioned above, the firepit front wall 1090 comprises the slots 1091. The slots 1091 are located at a lower end of the firepit front wall 1090. Furthermore, the enclosed cooking chamber allows for heat to be contained therein and allow for effective and efficient cooking.

1. A firepit assembly comprising a firepit compartment, a heating surface located above the firepit compartment; and a cooking chamber located below the firepit compartment.

A method of providing a firepit assembly comprising:providing a pair of side walls, a heating surface, a base, a firepit rear wall, a firepit front wall, a cooking base, a front cooking wall and a rear cooking wall; andassembling the firepit assembly such that the heating surface is located above a firepit compartment and a cooking chamber is located below the firepit compartment;to thereby assembly the firepit assembly.
