Abstract (Figure 2) A roll cage 10 in its deployed position has expandable base 11 carried by four castors 12, a left side frame 13 and a right side frame 14. The left side frame has a left side front vertical frame member 15 and the right side frame 14 has a right side vertical frame member 16. Handles 32 and 33 are provided as inward displaced sections of vertical frame members 15 and 16. The handles 32 and 33 are about midway up the roll cage for steerability and include, in this case, a plastic or rubber hand grip 34 in a conspicuous colour to encourage use of the handles. Since the operator would be standing in front of the roll cage the handles are displaced in the same plane as the deployed door or near to it. This is because the area of risk for hand damage is the knuckles from the slides if the operator is steering the roll cage from the front using left and right handles.
