[0003] [Patent Literature 1] JP2007-146570A SUMMARY OF INVENTION Technical Problem

[0004] Eaves soffit panels are available in various thicknesses depending on the specifications of the eaves. Therefore, it is necessary to prepare multiple types of attic ventilation fittings to accommodate the different thicknesses of eaves soffit panels. Solution to Problem

[0005] (1) In one aspect of the present disclosure, a ventilation structure is employed in an inside corner in which an exterior-side surface of an exterior wall intersects with a lower surface of an overhanging portion that is located above the exterior wall and projects outward beyond the exterior wall. In the inside corner, an upper surface of a wall cladding of the exterior wall is located below a lower surface of a lower surface member of the overhanging portion. The ventilation structure comprises a termination trim disposed in the inside corner. The termination trim includes a first member and a second member spaced apart from the first member and disposed on an interior side of the first member. The lower surface member is sandwiched between the first member and the second member. The first member and the second member define an inside corner ventilation passage. The first member includes a first connecting hole that connects the inside corner ventilation passage to an exterior, and a restriction member that restricts water from entering the inside corner ventilation passage from the exterior via the first connecting hole.

[0006] According to this configuration, the termination trim is divided into two parts, i.e., the first member and the second member. This allows the spacing between the first member and the second member to be adjusted in accordance with the thickness of the lower surface member. As a result, a common termination trim can be used with multiple types of lower surface members having different thicknesses.

[0007] Additionally, since the first member includes the restriction member, the configuration suppresses ingress of water into the inside corner ventilation passage from the exterior through the first connecting hole. (2) In the ventilation structure for the inside corner according to item (1), the second member includes a second connecting hole that connects the inside corner ventilation passage to an attic space.

[0008] According to this configuration, the attic communicates with the exterior through the inside corner ventilation passage. This ensures ventilation of the attic. (3) In the ventilation structure for the inside corner according to item (1) or (2), an exterior wall ventilation layer is provided on an interior side of the wall cladding. The first member includes a first horizontal plate portion disposed on the lower surface of the lower surface member, and a first vertical plate portion extending downward from an end of the first horizontal plate portion located on the interior side. The second member includes a second horizontal plate portion disposed on an upper surface of the lower surface member, and a second vertical plate portion that extends downward from an end of the second horizontal plate portion located on the interior side. The second vertical plate portion is located on the interior side of the first vertical plate portion. The inside corner ventilation passage includes a horizontal passage defined by the first horizontal plate portion and the second horizontal plate portion, and a vertical passage defined by the first vertical plate portion and the second vertical plate portion. The vertical passage is connected to the exterior wall ventilation layer.

[0009] According to this configuration, the exterior wall ventilation layer communicates with the exterior through the inside corner ventilation passage. This ensures ventilation of the exterior wall ventilation layer. (4) In the ventilation structure for the inside corner according to item (3), the first connecting hole is provided in the first horizontal plate portion. The first member includes a barrier portion that protrudes upward from a portion of the first horizontal plate portion located on the interior side of the first connecting hole.

[0010] According to this configuration, even if water enters the horizontal passage of the inside corner ventilation passage through the first connecting hole, the barrier portion blocks the water. As a result, water is unlikely to enter the vertical passage. This suppresses water ingress into the exterior wall ventilation layer, which is continuous with the vertical passage.

[0011] (5) In the ventilation structure for the inside corner according to item (3) or (4), a horizontal direction in which the overhanging portion projects beyond the exterior wall is defined as a first direction, and a horizontal direction orthogonal to the first direction is defined as a second direction. Multiple base members are provided to be spaced apart from each other in the second direction. The termination trim includes spacers disposed between the first vertical plate portion and the second vertical plate portion. The spacers are disposed at positions corresponding to the base members in the second direction.

[0012] According to this configuration, by simply disposing the spacers between the first vertical plate portion and the second vertical plate portion, the dimension of the vertical passage in the first direction is set to a desired value. In addition, since the spacers do not block the vertical passage, ventilation of the exterior wall ventilation layer is ensured.

[0013] (6) In the ventilation structure for the inside corner according to item (5), the termination trim is fixed to the base members by fixing members that extend through the first vertical plate portion, the spacers, and the second vertical plate portion. The first vertical plate portion includes insertion holes through which the fixing members are inserted. The insertion holes are elongated holes extending in a vertical direction.

[0014] As described above, the spacing between the first member and the second member is set in accordance with the thickness of the lower surface member. Therefore, the vertical positions of the fixing members, which extend through the first vertical plate portion, vary for each termination trim. According to this configuration, the insertion holes are elongated holes extending in the vertical direction. Thus, the fixing members can be inserted through the insertion holes even if the vertical positions of the fixing members differ among different termination trims.

[0015] (7) In the ventilation structure for the inside corner according to any one of items (3) to (6), the first connecting hole is provided in the first horizontal plate portion. The restriction member includes a valve member that operates to close the first connecting hole in response to wind pressure.

[0016] According to this configuration, during a rainstorm, the valve member closes the first connecting hole, thereby further restricting rainwater ingress into the inside corner ventilation passage through the first connecting hole. (8) In the ventilation structure for the inside corner according to item (7), the valve member is rotatably attached to a portion of the first horizontal plate portion located on the exterior side of the first connecting hole.

[0017] According to this configuration, the valve member closes the first connecting hole by rotating in response to wind pressure of airflow from the exterior side toward the interior side. (9) In the ventilation structure for the inside corner according to item (7), the valve member is rotatably attached to a portion of the first horizontal plate portion located on the interior side of the first connecting hole.

[0018] Airflow from the exterior side to the interior side strikes the exterior-side surface of the first vertical plate portion and reverses direction. According to this configuration, the valve member rotates in response to the wind pressure of the reversed airflow, thereby closing the first connecting hole.

[0019] (10) In the ventilation structure for the inside corner according to item (9), a guide portion that guides airflow toward the valve member is provided on an exterior-side surface of the first vertical plate portion. According to this configuration, when airflow strikes the exterior-side surface of the first vertical plate portion and reverses direction, the guide portion directs the airflow toward the valve member. This efficiently rotates the valve member.

[0020] (11) In another aspect of the present disclosure, a building has the ventilation structure for the inside corner according to any one of items (1) to (10). According to this configuration, the termination trim is divided into two parts, i.e., the first member and the second member. This allows the spacing between the first member and the second member to be adjusted in accordance with the thickness of the lower surface member. As a result, a common termination trim can be used with multiple types of lower surface members having different thicknesses.

[0021] Additionally, since the first member includes the restriction member, the configuration suppresses ingress of water into the inside corner ventilation passage from the exterior through the first connecting hole. Advantageous Effects of Invention

[0022] According to the ventilation structure for an inside corner and the building of the present disclosure, a common termination trim can be used across multiple configurations. BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DRAWINGS

DESCRIPTION OF EMBODIMENTS

[0024] A ventilation structure for an inside corner C and a building 100 according to the present embodiment will be described with reference to Figs. 1 to 5. The building 100 of the present embodiment is a two-story residential house. As shown in Fig. 1, the building 100 includes an exterior wall 10 and an overhanging portion 11, which is disposed above the exterior wall 10 and projects outward beyond the exterior wall 10. In the present embodiment, the exterior wall 10 is an exterior wall of the first floor of the building 100. The overhanging portion 11 is a part of the second floor of the building 100. A horizontal direction in which the overhanging portion 11 projects relative to the exterior wall 10 is defined as a first direction D1, and a horizontal direction orthogonal to the first direction D1 is defined as a second direction D2. In some countries such as the United Kingdom and Australia, the “first floor” referred to herein may be read as “ground floor,” and the “second floor” as “first floor,” as appropriate.

[0025] As shown in Fig. 2, the overhanging portion 11 includes trusses 12 and a lower surface member 13. The trusses 12 are spaced apart from each other in the second direction D2. The lower surface member 13 is located below the trusses 12. A lower surface 13a of the lower surface member 13 forms a lower surface 11a of the overhanging portion 11.

[0026] The exterior wall 10 includes wall cladding 14, a sheathing panel 15, and framing studs 16. The sheathing panel 15 is provided on the interior side of the wall cladding 14. An exterior wall ventilation layer R11 is provided between the wall cladding 14 and the sheathing panel 15. Therefore, the exterior wall ventilation layer R11 is provided on the interior side of the wall cladding 14. The framing studs 16 are provided on the interior side of the sheathing panel 15. The framing studs 16 are spaced part from each other in the second direction D2 (see Fig. 5).

[0027] The building 100 includes an inside corner C, at which an exterior-side surface 10a of the exterior wall 10 and the lower surface 11a of the overhanging portion 11 intersect with each other. The exterior-side surface 10a of the exterior wall 10 is formed by an exterior-side surface 14a of the wall cladding 14. In the inside corner C, an upper surface 14c of the wall cladding 14 is located below the lower surface 11a of the overhanging portion 11. In other words, the inside corner C employs a configuration in which the lower surface member 13 overlaps the wall cladding 14. The condition “the upper surface 14c of the wall cladding member 14 is located below the lower surface 11a of the overhanging portion 11” includes not only configurations in which the upper surface 14c of the wall cladding 14 lies directly beneath the lower surface 11a of the overhanging portion 11, but also configurations, such as in the present embodiment, in which the upper surface 14c of the wall cladding 14 is located lower than the lower surface 11a of the overhanging portion 11 when viewed in the first direction D1.

[0028] Termination Trim A termination trim 20 is arranged in the inside corner C. The termination trim 20 includes a first member 21, a second member 22, and spacers 23. The first member 21 includes a first horizontal plate portion 24, which has the shape of a flat plate, and a first vertical plate portion 25, which has the shape of a flat plate. The first vertical plate portion 25 is orthogonal to the first horizontal plate portion 24. The second member 22 includes a second horizontal plate portion 26, which has the shape of a flat plate, and a second vertical plate portion 27, which has the shape of a flat plate. The second vertical plate portion 27 is orthogonal to the second horizontal plate portion 26.

[0029] The termination trim 20 is disposed such that the lower surface member 13 is sandwiched between the first horizontal plate portion 24 and the second horizontal plate portion 26, and the first vertical plate portion 25 and the second vertical plate portion 27 are located in the exterior wall ventilation layer R11. The second member 22 is spaced apart from the first member 21 and disposed on the interior side of the first member 21.

[0030] Specifically, the first horizontal plate portion 24 is disposed on the lower surface 13a portion of the lower surface member 13. The first horizontal plate portion 24 extends in the horizontal direction. A portion of the upper surface of the first horizontal plate portion 24 located at an end on the exterior side is in contact with a portion of the lower surface 13a of the lower surface member 13 located at an end on the interior side. In the present embodiment, a gap G is present between a portion of the lower surface of the first horizontal plate portion 24 located on the interior side and the upper surface 14c of the wall cladding 14. The first vertical plate portion 25 extends downward from an end of the first horizontal plate portion 24 located on the interior side. The first vertical plate portion 25 is disposed in the exterior wall ventilation layer R11. An exterior-side surface of the first vertical plate portion 25 is in contact with an interior-side surface 14b of the wall cladding 14.

[0031] The second horizontal plate portion 26 is disposed on an upper surface 13b of the lower surface member 13. The second horizontal plate portion 26 extends in the horizontal direction. A portion of the lower surface of the second horizontal plate portion 26 located at an end on the exterior side is in contact with a portion of the upper surface 13b of the lower surface member 13 located at an end on the interior side. The second vertical plate portion 27 extends downward from an end of the second horizontal plate portion 26 located on the interior side. The second vertical plate portion 27 is disposed in the exterior wall ventilation layer R11. The second vertical plate portion 27 is disposed on the interior side of the first vertical plate portion 25. The interior-side surface of the second vertical plate portion 27 is in contact with the sheathing panel 15.

[0032] The first member 21 and the second member 22 define an inside corner ventilation passage R20. The inside corner ventilation passage R20 includes a horizontal passage R20a, which is defined by the first horizontal plate portion 24 and the second horizontal plate portion 26, and a vertical passage R20b, which is defined by the first vertical plate portion 25 and the second vertical plate portion 27. As described above, the end of the lower surface member 13 located on the interior side is sandwiched between the end of the first horizontal plate portion 24 located on the exterior side and the end of the second horizontal plate portion 26 located on the exterior side. Therefore, a first end of the inside corner ventilation passage R20 is closed by the lower surface member 13. A second end of the inside corner ventilation passage R20, which is opposite to the first end, is connected to the exterior wall ventilation layer R11.

[0033] As shown in Figs. 2 and 3, the first horizontal plate portion 24 of the first member 21 includes first connecting holes 24a. The first connecting holes 24a extend through the first horizontal plate portion 24 in the thickness direction. The first connecting holes 24a of the present embodiment each have a rectangular shape in plan view. The present embodiment includes two first connecting holes 24a, which are spaced apart from each other in the second direction D2. The first connecting holes 24a connect the exterior and the inside corner ventilation passage R20 to each other.

[0034] The first horizontal plate portion 24 of the first member 21 includes restriction members 28 that restrict water ingress from the exterior into the inside corner ventilation passage R20 via the first connecting holes 24a. In the present embodiment, the restriction members 28 are each formed by a rectangular plate. The restriction members 28 cover the first connecting holes 24a from below without completely closing the first connecting holes 24a. Specifically, the restriction members 28 are each attached to a portion of the first horizontal plate portion 24 that is located on the exterior side of the corresponding first connecting hole 24a. The restriction members 28 are inclined so as to be separated from the first connecting holes 24a as the restriction members 28 extend toward the interior side. Fig. 2 shows an example of the inclination angle of the restriction members 28 relative to the first horizontal plate portion 24. The inclination angle of the restriction members 28 relative to the first horizontal plate portion 24 may be changed.

[0035] The first member 21 includes a barrier portion 29, which protrudes upward from a portion of the first horizontal plate portion 24 that is located on the interior side of the first connecting holes 24a. In the present embodiment, the barrier portion 29 protrudes upward from the end of the first horizontal plate portion 24 located on the interior side.

[0036] As shown in Figs. 2 and 4, the second horizontal plate portion 26 of the second member 22 includes second connecting holes 26a. The second connecting holes 26a extend through the second horizontal plate portion 26 in the thickness direction. The second connecting holes 26a of the present embodiment each have a rectangular shape in plan view. The present embodiment includes two second connecting holes 26a, which are spaced apart from each other in the second direction D2. The second connecting holes 26a connect the inside corner ventilation passage R20 and an attic space R12 to each other.

[0037] As shown in Figs. 2 and 5, the spacers 23 are disposed between the first vertical plate portion 25 and the second vertical plate portion 27. The spacers 23 are spaced apart from each other in the second direction D2. Specifically, each spacer 23 is disposed at a position corresponding to one of the framing studs 16 in the second direction D2. That is, each spacer 23 is arranged in alignment with the corresponding framing stud 16 in the first direction D1, with the sheathing panel 15 interposed therebetween.

[0038] The termination trim 20 is fixed to the framing studs 16 by fixing members 17 such as screws or nails. The fixing members 17 extend through the first vertical plate portion 25, the spacers 23, the second vertical plate portion 27, and the sheathing panel 15.

[0039] As shown in Figs. 2 and 3, the first vertical plate portion 25 of the first member 21 includes insertion holes 25a through which the fixing members 17 are inserted. The insertion holes 25a are elongated holes extending in the vertical direction. The insertion holes 25a are located at positions corresponding to the spacers 23 in the second direction D2. The present embodiment includes two insertion holes 25a, which are spaced apart from each other in the second direction D2.

[0040] The first member 21, the second member 22, and the spacers 23 are integrated in advance as the termination trim 20 before being fixed to the framing studs 16 with the fixing member 17. Specifically, the first member 21 and the second member 22 are temporarily secured to the spacers 23 in a state in which the lower surface member 13 is sandwiched between the first horizontal plate portion 24 and the second horizontal plate portion 26 and the spacers 23 are sandwiched between the first vertical plate portion 25 and the second vertical plate portion 27. The spacing between the first horizontal plate portion 24 and the second horizontal plate portion 26, that is, the dimension of the horizontal passage R20a in the vertical direction is determined by the thickness of the lower surface member 13. The spacing between the first vertical plate portion 25 and the second vertical plate portion 27, that is, the dimension of the vertical passage R20b in the first direction D1, is determined by the thickness of the spacers 23.

[0041] Operation of the Present Embodiment Operation of the present embodiment will now be described. The termination trim 20 is arranged in the inside corner C. The termination trim 20 includes the first member 21 and the second member 22. The second member 22 is spaced apart from the first member 21 and disposed on the interior side of the first member 21. The lower surface member 13 is sandwiched between the first member 21 and the second member 22.

[0042] According to this configuration, the termination trim 20 is divided into two parts, i.e., the first member 21 and the second member 22. This allows the spacing between the first member 21 and the second member 22 to be adjusted in accordance with the thickness of the lower surface member 13. As a result, a common termination trim 20 can be used with multiple types of lower surface members 13 having different thicknesses. The first member 21 and the second member 22 define the inside corner ventilation passage R20. The first member 21 includes the first connecting holes 24a, which connect the exterior and the inside corner ventilation passage R20 to each other. The second member 22 includes the second connecting holes 26a, which connect the inside corner ventilation passage R20 and the attic space R12 to each other. As a result, as indicated by the solid arrows in Fig. 2, the attic space R12 is connected to the exterior via the inside corner ventilation passage R20, so that ventilation of the attic space R12 is ensured. Further, the inside corner ventilation passage R20 is connected to the exterior wall ventilation layer R11. As a result, as indicated by the solid arrows in Fig. 2, the exterior wall ventilation layer R11 is connected to the exterior via the inside corner ventilation passage R20, so that ventilation of the exterior wall ventilation layer R11 is ensured.

[0044] The first member 21 includes the restriction members 28, which restrict water ingress from the exterior into the inside corner ventilation passage R20 via the first connecting holes 24a. The restriction members 28 of the present embodiment cover the first connecting holes 24a from below without completely closing the first connecting holes 24a.

[0045] According to this configuration, ventilation of the inside corner ventilation passage R20 is maintained even in the presence of the restriction members 28. Further, as indicated by the arrow of the long-dash short-dash line in Fig. 2, in the case of a rainstorm, rainwater collides with the restriction members 28, thereby restricting ingress of rainwater into the inside corner ventilation passage R20 from the exterior via the first connecting holes 24a.

[0046] Advantages of the Present Embodiment The present embodiment has the following advantages. (1) The termination trim 20 is divided into two parts, i.e., the first member 21 and the second member 22. This allows the spacing between the first member 21 and the second member 22 to be adjusted in accordance with the thickness of the lower surface member 13. As a result, a common termination trim 20 can be used with multiple types of lower surface members 13 having different thicknesses.

[0047] Additionally, since the first member 21 includes the restriction members 28, the configuration suppresses ingress of water into the inside corner ventilation passage R20 from the exterior through the first connecting holes 24a. (2) The second member 22 includes the second connecting holes 26a, which connect the inside corner ventilation passage R20 and the attic space R12 to each other. According to this configuration, the attic space R12 communicates with the exterior through the inside corner ventilation passage R20. This ensures ventilation of the attic space R12.

[0048] (3) The exterior wall ventilation layer R11 is provided on the interior side of the wall cladding 14. The first member 21 includes the first horizontal plate portion 24 and the first vertical plate portion 25. The first horizontal plate portion 24 is disposed on the lower surface 13a portion of the lower surface member 13. The first vertical plate portion 25 extends downward from the end of the first horizontal plate portion 24 located on the interior side. The second member 22 includes the second horizontal plate portion 26 and the second vertical plate portion 27. The second horizontal plate portion 26 is disposed on an upper surface 13b of the lower surface member 13. The second vertical plate portion 27 extends downward from the end of the second horizontal plate portion 26 located on the interior side. The second vertical plate portion 27 is located on the interior side of the first vertical plate portion 25.

[0049] The inside corner ventilation passage R20 includes the horizontal passage R20a and the vertical passage R20b. The horizontal passage R20a is defined by the first horizontal plate portion 24 and the second horizontal plate portion 26. The vertical passage R20b is defined by the first vertical plate portion 25 and the second vertical plate portion 27. The vertical passage R20b is connected to the exterior wall ventilation layer R11.

[0050] According to this configuration, the exterior wall ventilation layer R11 communicates with the exterior through the inside corner ventilation passage R20. This ensures ventilation of the exterior wall ventilation layer R11. (4) The first horizontal plate portion 24 includes the first connecting holes 24a. The first member 21 includes a barrier portion 29, which protrudes upward from a portion of the first horizontal plate portion 24 that is located on the interior side of the first connecting holes 24a.

[0051] According to this configuration, even if water enters the horizontal passage R20a of the inside corner ventilation passage R20 through the first connecting holes 24a, the barrier portion 29 blocks the water. As a result, water is unlikely to enter the vertical passage R20b. This suppresses water ingress into the exterior wall ventilation layer R11, which is continuous with the vertical passage R20b. (5) The termination trim 20 includes the spacer 23 disposed between the first vertical plate portion 25 and the second vertical plate portion 27. Each spacer 23 is disposed at a position corresponding to one of the framing studs 16 in the second direction D2.

[0053] According to this configuration, by simply disposing the spacers 23 between the first vertical plate portion 25 and the second vertical plate portion 27, the dimension of the vertical passage R20b in the first direction D1 is set to a desired value. In addition, since the spacers 23 do not block the vertical passage R20b, ventilation of the exterior wall ventilation layer R11 is ensured.

[0054] (6) The termination trim 20 is fixed to the framing studs 16 with the fixing members 17 that extend through the first vertical plate portion 25, the spacers 23, and the second vertical plate portion 27. The first vertical plate portion 25 includes the insertion holes 25a, through which the fixing members 17 are inserted. The insertion holes 25a are elongated holes extending in the vertical direction.

[0055] As described above, the spacing between the first member 21 and the second member 22 is set in accordance with the thickness of the lower surface member 13. Therefore, the vertical position of the fixing members 17, which extend through the first vertical plate portion 25, varies for each termination trim 20. The insertion holes 25a are elongated holes extending in the vertical direction. Thus, the fixing members 17 can be inserted through the insertion holes 25a even if the vertical position of the fixing members 17 differs among different termination trims 20.

[0056] (7) To ensure durability of the structural frame of the building 100, it is necessary to maintain ventilation of the attic space R12 and the exterior wall ventilation layer R11. At the same time, ingress of water into the attic space R12 and the exterior wall ventilation layer R11, along with air, must be avoided, as such ingress may lead to deterioration or decay of the structural frame of the building 100.

[0057] In the present embodiment, ventilation of the attic space R12 and the exterior wall ventilation layer R11 is achieved via the inside corner ventilation passage R20. Additionally, since the restriction members 28 restrict water ingress into the inside corner ventilation passage R20, water is unlikely to enter the attic space R12 and the exterior wall ventilation layer R11, which are connected to the inside corner ventilation passage R20. Thus, the present embodiment enables ventilation of the attic space R12 and the exterior wall ventilation layer R11 while concurrently restricting water ingress into the attic space R12 and the exterior wall ventilation layer R11.

[0058] (8) As a comparative example of a ventilation structure in the inside corner C, the following configuration may be considered. A termination trim includes an upper plate located above the lower surface member 13, a lower plate located below the lower surface member 13, and a connection portion that vertically connects an end of the upper plate located on the interior side to an end of the lower plate located on the interior side. In such a configuration, if a gap exists between the lower plate of the termination trim and the upper surface 14c of the wall cladding 14, water may enter the interior through the gap. To address this, possible approaches include providing a seal between the lower plate of the termination trim and the upper surface 14c of the wall cladding 14, and bringing the lower surface of the lower plate into abutment with the upper surface 14c of the wall cladding 14.

[0059] However, in the case of providing a seal between the lower plate and the wall cladding 14, sealing materials or backup materials used for the sealing may block the exterior wall ventilation layer R11, thereby compromising the ventilation of the exterior wall ventilation layer R11. Furthermore, if the wall cladding 14 is relatively thin, proper sealing may not be feasible.

[0060] In the case in which the lower plate and the wall cladding 14 are brought into abutment, installation becomes difficult. In a case in which the finish configuration of the inside corner C is such that the lower surface member 13 overlaps the wall cladding 14, the wall cladding 14 is installed after installation of the lower surface member 13 and the termination trim. The wall cladding 14 is typically installed by being inserted downward onto a wall cladding supporting member (not shown) from above. In this case, if the configuration involves abutment between the lower plate and the wall cladding 14, the upper end of the wall cladding 14 may interfere with the pre-installed termination trim, thereby making installation of the wall cladding 14 unfeasible.

[0061] In contrast, in the present embodiment, the first vertical plate portion 25 of the first member 21 is disposed so as to contact the interior-side surface 14b of the wall cladding 14. Accordingly, sealing between the first horizontal plate portion 24 of the first member 21 and the upper surface 14c of the wall cladding 14 can be omitted. Furthermore, it is unnecessary to bring the first horizontal plate portion 24 into abutment with the upper surface 14c of the wall cladding 14. That is, a gap G can be present between the first horizontal plate portion 24 and the wall cladding 14. Accordingly, installation of the wall cladding 14 is facilitated. This configuration also allows the wall cladding 14 to be inserted downward from above onto the wall cladding supporting member.

[0062] Modifications The above-described embodiment exemplifies, without any intention to limit, an applicable form of the ventilation structure for the inside corner C and the building 100. The ventilation structure for the inside corner C and the building 100 may take forms different from those illustrated in the above-described embodiment. For example, the structures of the above-described embodiment may be replaced, changed, or omitted in part or include additional elements. Modifications of the embodiment will now be described.

[0063] The inside corner ventilation passage R20 may be connected to only one of the attic space R12 and the exterior wall ventilation layer R11. When ventilation of the attic space R12 is unnecessary, the second connecting holes 26a may be omitted from the second horizontal plate portion 26 of the second member 22. When ventilation of the exterior wall ventilation layer R11 is unnecessary, the inside corner ventilation passage R20 does not need to be connected to the exterior wall ventilation layer R11. Even in this case, at least the advantage of item (1) of the above-described embodiment is achieved.

[0064] The number of the first connecting holes 24a in the first horizontal plate portion 24 of the first member 21 is not limited to two, and may be changed. The number of the second connecting holes 26a in the second horizontal plate portion 26 of the second member 22 is not limited to two, and may be changed.

[0065] The barrier portion 29 of the first member 21 may be omitted. Even in this case, at least the advantage of item (1) of the above-described embodiment is achieved. The barrier portion 29 does not necessarily need to be located at the end of the first horizontal plate portion 24 located on the interior side as long as the barrier portion 29 protrudes upward from a portion of the first horizontal plate portion 24 located on the interior side of the first connecting holes 24a.

[0066] The insertion holes 25a of the first member 21 do not necessarily need to be elongated holes extending in the vertical direction. Even in this case, at least the advantage of item (1) of the above-described embodiment is achieved. As in a first modification shown in Fig. 6 and a second modification shown in Figs. 7 to 9, each restriction member 28 may be formed by a valve member 30 that operates under wind pressure to close the corresponding first connecting hole 24a. According to this configuration, during a rainstorm, the valve member 30 closes the first connecting hole 24a, thereby further restricting rainwater ingress into the inside corner ventilation passage R20 through the first connecting hole 24a. Hereinafter, a first modification and a second modification will be described in detail.

[0067] First Modification As shown in Fig. 6, the valve member 30 of the first modification is rotatably attached via a hinge 33 to a portion of the first horizontal plate portion 24 located on the exterior side of the first connecting hole 24a.

[0068] In the absence of airflow, the valve member 30 covers the first connecting hole 24a from below without completely closing the first connecting hole 24a, as indicated by the solid line in Fig. 6. Specifically, the valve member 30 is inclined so as to be separated from the first connecting hole 24a as the valve member 30 extends toward the interior side. This configuration ensures ventilation of the inside corner ventilation passage R20 while restricting ingress of water to the inside corner ventilation passage R20 from the exterior through the first connecting holes 24a.

[0069] When air flows from the exterior side toward the interior side, the lower surface of the valve member 30 receives wind pressure. As a result, the valve member 30 receives force that rotates the valve member 30 in a direction toward the first connecting hole 24a, which is a direction to close the first connecting hole 24a. In the event of a rainstorm, the wind pressure is relatively high, so that the valve member 30 completely closes the first connecting hole 24a, as indicated by the long-dash double-short-dash lines in Fig. 6. Accordingly, during a rainstorm, the configuration more effectively restricts ingress of rainwater to the inside corner ventilation passage R20 through the first connecting holes 24a.

[0070] Second Modification As shown in Fig. 7, a valve member 30 of the second modification has a first plate 31 and a second plate 32 orthogonal to the first plate 31. The first plate 31 includes a through-hole 31a. An intersecting portion of the first plate 31 and the second plate 32 is rotatably attached via a hinge 33 to a portion of the first horizontal plate portion 24 located on the interior side of the first connecting hole 24a.

[0071] As shown in Fig. 8, a guide portion 40 for guiding airflow toward the valve member 30 is provided on a surface 25b on the exterior side of the first vertical plate portion 25. The guide portion 40 is located in the gap G between the lower surface of the first horizontal plate portion 24 and the upper surface 14c of the wall cladding 14 (see Fig. 7).

[0072] The guide portion 40 includes, for example, a first wall portion 41 and two second wall portions 42. The first wall portion 41 is disposed at a position corresponding to the valve member 30 in the second direction D2. The first wall portion 41 is aligned with the valve member 30 in the first direction D1. The first wall portion 41 includes two curved plates 41a. The two curved plates 41a are aligned with each other in the second direction D2. The two curved plates 41a are curved away from the exterior-side surface 25b of the first vertical plate portion 25 as they extend toward each other. The two second wall portions 42 are located on the opposite sides of the first wall portion 41 in the second direction D2. Each second wall portion 42 is curved toward the exterior-side surface 25b of the first vertical plate portion 25 as the second wall portion 42 extends toward the first wall portion 41. Each curved plate 41a, the first vertical plate portion 25, and the corresponding second wall portion 42 form a curved surface 40a, which is recessed toward the interior side.

[0073] Gravity acting on the valve member 30 applies a rotational force to the valve member 30, causing the second plate 32 to rotate away from the first connecting hole 24a. As shown in Fig. 7, in the absence of airflow, the first plate 31 of the valve member 30 is positioned within the first connecting hole 24a of the first horizontal plate portion 24. The first plate 31 is supported by a support portion (not shown) so as not to be positioned below the first horizontal plate portion 24. At this time, the second plate 32 of the valve member 30 is below the first horizontal plate portion 24 and orthogonal to the first horizontal plate portion 24. In this state, ventilation of the inside corner ventilation passage R20a is ensured by the through-hole 31a of the first plate 31.

[0074] As shown in Fig. 8, when air flows from the exterior side toward the interior side, the airflows at the opposite sides of the first connecting hole 24a strike the exterior-side surface 25b of the first vertical plate portion 25 and reverse directions. The interior-side surface of the second plate 32 receives the wind pressure of the reversed airflows. As a result, the valve member 30 receives force that rotates the valve member 30 in a direction in which the second plate 32 approaches the first connecting hole 24a, which is a direction to close the first connecting hole 24a. When the force from wind pressure that rotates the valve member 30 exceeds the force from gravity that rotates the valve member 30, the valve member 30 rotates in a direction in which the second plate 32 approaches the first connecting hole 24a.

[0075] As shown in Fig. 9, in the case of a rainstorm, the wind pressure is relatively high, and thus the second plate 32 completely closes the first connecting hole 24a of the first horizontal plate portion 24. Accordingly, during a rainstorm, the configuration more effectively restricts ingress of rainwater to the inside corner ventilation passage R20 through the first connecting holes 24a.

[0076] As described above, the guide portion 40 is provided on the exterior-side surface 25b of the first vertical plate portion 25. Accordingly, when airflow strikes the exterior-side surface 25b of the first vertical plate portion 25 and reverses direction, the guide portion 40 directs the airflow toward the valve member 30. Specifically, as indicated by arrows in Fig. 8, airflows from the exterior side toward the interior side at the opposite sides of the first connecting hole 24a follow the curved surfaces 40a and are thereby directed toward the valve member 30. This efficiently rotates the valve member 30.

[0077] In the second modification, the guide portion 40 may be omitted. In the above-described embodiment, the building 100 is a residential house, but it is not limited thereto. In the above-described embodiment, the exterior wall 10 is an exterior wall of the first floor, and the overhanging portion 11 is a part of the second floor. However, the present disclosure is not limited to this. For example, if the building 100 is a three-story structure, the exterior wall 10 may correspond to the second floor, and the overhanging portion 11 may correspond to a portion of the third floor.

[0078] The overhanging portion 11 may be an eaves, and the lower surface member 13 may be a soffit member. Clauses This specification discloses the following techniques.
