Description

[0001] This application claims priority to Chinese Patent Application No. 202410397628.3, filed with the China National Intellectual Property Administration on April 2, 2024 and entitled "METHOD FOR DETERMINING CHANNEL NUMBER, METHOD FOR DETERMINING CENTER FREQUENCY, AND APPARATUS ", which is incorporated herein by reference in its entirety. TECHNICAL FIELD

[0002] This application relates to the field of communication technologies, and in particular, to a method for determining a channel number, a method for determining a center frequency, and an apparatus. BACKGROUND

[0003] An ultra wideband (ultra wideband, UWB) technology is a wireless carrier communication technology that uses a nanosecond-level non-sinusoidal wave narrow pulse to transmit data. Therefore, the ultra wideband occupies a wide spectrum range. Due to a narrow pulse and an extremely low radiation spectral density of the ultra wideband, a UWB system has advantages such as a strong multipath resolution capability, low power consumption, and high confidentiality.

[0004] As the UWB technology was approved to be used in the civil field in 2002, UWB wireless communication has become one of the popular physical layer technologies for short-range and high-speed wireless networks. Many world-renowned large companies, research institutes, and standardization organizations are actively engaged in the research, development, and standardization of ultra wideband wireless communication technologies. The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (institute of electrical and electronics engineers, IEEE) has incorporated the UWB technology into IEEE 802 series wireless standards, and has released the high-rate wireless personal area network (wireless personal area network, WPAN) standard IEEE 802.15.4a based on the UWB technology, and an evolved version IEEE 802.15.4z of the IEEE 802.15.4a. Currently, formulation of a next-generation UWB WPAN standard 802.15.4ab has been put on the agenda. For operating bands of UWB, the current standard defines 16 operating bands. In addition, some extended channels are defined.

[0005] However, in a current solution, a device cannot effectively determine a center frequency of a channel, thereby resulting in low working performance. SUMMARY

[0006] Embodiments of this application provide a method for determining a channel number, a method for determining a center frequency, and an apparatus. A communication apparatus can determine one center frequency based on a channel number, or determine one channel number based on a center frequency, thereby improving working performance of the communication apparatus.

[0007] According to a first aspect, an embodiment of this application provides a method for determining a channel number. The method may be applied to a first communication apparatus. The first communication apparatus may include a wireless personal area network (wireless personal area network, WPAN) device (or a UWB device), a functional module, a chip, a circuit, or the like in a WPAN device. For ease of description, the following uses the WPAN device or the UWB device as an example. The method may include:

[0008] the first communication apparatus determines a first channel number based on a center frequency of a first channel and a mapping relationship, where the first channel number is used to identify the first channel; and sends indication information, where the indication information may indicate the first channel number. The mapping relationship may include a relationship between M channel numbers and center frequencies of M channels identified by the M channel numbers. A value range of the center frequencies of the M channels may include at least two value ranges, and the mapping relationship corresponding to each of the at least two value ranges is different. The M channel numbers include the first channel number, the M channels include the first channel, and M is an integer greater than or equal to 2.

[0009] In this embodiment of this application, the first communication apparatus may determine the first channel number based on the center frequency of the first channel, that is, one channel number may be determined for a same center frequency, thereby improving performance of determining the channel number by the first communication apparatus.

[0010] In some existing solutions, a same center frequency may correspond to at least two channel numbers. Therefore, the WPAN device may not be able to effectively determine one channel number based on one center frequency, resulting in low performance of the WPAN device. However, in this embodiment of this application, when value ranges of center frequencies are different, mapping relationships between the center frequencies and the channel numbers may be different, and one channel number may be determined for a same center frequency.

[0011] With reference to the first aspect, in a possible implementation, a value range of the center frequency of the first channel is a first value range, and that the first communication apparatus determines the first channel number based on the center frequency of the first channel and the mapping relationship includes: the first communication apparatus determines the first channel number based on the center frequency of the first channel and a first mapping relationship corresponding to the first value range.

[0012] In this embodiment of this application, the channel number may also be referred to as other information used to identify a channel, such as a channel identifier or a channel index. A specific name of the information used to identify a channel is not limited in this embodiment of this application. The description of the number herein is also applicable below, and details are not described below again.

[0013] According to a second aspect, an embodiment of this application provides a method for determining a center frequency. The method may be applied to a second communication apparatus. For ease of description, the following uses the WPAN device or the UWB device as an example. The method may include:

[0014] the second communication apparatus receives indication information, where the indication information indicates a first channel number; and determines a center frequency of a first channel based on the first channel number and a mapping relationship. The mapping relationship includes a relationship between M channel numbers and center frequencies of M channels identified by the M channel numbers, a value range of the M channel numbers include at least two value ranges, and the mapping relationship corresponding to each of the at least two value ranges is different. The M channel numbers include the first channel number, the M channels include the first channel, and M is an integer greater than or equal to 2.

[0015] In this embodiment of this application, the second communication apparatus may determine the center frequency of the first channel based on the first channel number, that is, one center frequency may be determined for a same channel number, thereby improving performance of determining the center frequency by the second communication apparatus. Further, efficiency of performing other processing by the second communication apparatus by using the center frequency can be further improved.

[0016] For other descriptions of the second aspect, refer to the first aspect. Details are not described herein again.

[0017] With reference to the second aspect, in a possible implementation, a value range of the first channel number is a second value range, and that the second communication apparatus determines the center frequency of the first channel based on the first channel number and the mapping relationship includes: the second communication apparatus determines the center frequency of the first channel based on the first channel number and a first mapping relationship corresponding to the second value range.

[0070] Although embodiments of this application mainly use a WPAN as an example, especially use a network applied to the IEEE 802.15 series standards as an example. However, a person skilled in the art easily understands that various aspects in embodiments of this application may be extended to other networks using various standards or protocols. For example, a wireless local area network (wireless local area network, WLAN), Bluetooth (Bluetooth), a high performance radio local area network (high performance radio local area network, HIPERLAN) (a wireless standard similar to the IEEE 802.11 standard, mainly used in Europe), a wide area network (wide area network, WAN), or another network that is currently known or developed in the future.

The full function device and the reduced function device are relative to each other. For example, the reduced function device cannot be the PAN coordinator (coordinator). For another example, compared with the full function device, the reduced function device may have no coordination capability or have a lower communication rate than that of the full function device. The PAN coordinator shown in FIG. 2 is merely an example, and the other three full function devices shown in FIG. 2 may alternatively serve as PAN coordinators. Examples are not enumerated herein.

[0073] The full function device and the reduced function device shown in embodiments of this application are merely an example of the communication apparatus. Any communication apparatus that can implement the method provided in embodiments of this application falls within the protection scope of embodiments of this application.

[0074] The method shown in embodiments of this application is shown by using a first communication apparatus and a second communication apparatus as examples. For example, at least one of the first communication apparatus and the second communication apparatus may be a chip, a functional module, or a communication component. Alternatively, both the first communication apparatus and the second communication apparatus may be a WPAN device (the device shown in FIG. 1 and FIG. 2), another UWB device, or the like. Specific product forms or types of the first communication apparatus and the second communication apparatus are not enumerated. The first communication apparatus shown in embodiments of this application may also be referred to as a transmit end of a first channel identifier, and the second communication apparatus may be referred to as a receive end of the first channel identifier. A specific name of the first communication apparatus or the second communication apparatus is not limited in this application.

[0075] The following describes a method in embodiments of this application.

[0076] Because a bandwidth of a UWB system is very large, to reduce interference caused by the UWB system to another device such as a narrowband device when the UWB system is working, a power spectral density of a UWB signal has a specific limitation rule, which is separately shown as follows:

[0077] Rule 1: An average value of a maximum power spectral density (power spectral density, PSD) of a transmitted UWB signal within one millisecond is not less than or equal to a threshold, for example, the threshold may be 41.3 dBm / MHz.

[0078] Rule 2: A maximum power of the transmitted UWB signal in a specific bandwidth cannot exceed 1 milliwatt (mW), for example, the maximum power of the UWB signal in any 50 MHz cannot exceed 1 mW.

[0079] Generally, when the UWB signal is used for ranging, ranging performance is proportional to an effective bandwidth of the UWB signal. In other words, a larger effective bandwidth of the UWB signal indicates higher ranging accuracy. However, for a low-cost and low-power UWB device, limited by performance of an analog-to-digital converter (analog-to-digital converter, ADC), the UWB device is incapable of processing a signal with a large bandwidth, thereby resulting in lower ranging performance of the UWB device.

[0080] To effectively improve the ranging performance of the UWB device, a solution is to concatenate a plurality of bands with a bandwidth of 499.2 MHz into a band with a larger bandwidth. By obtaining the band with a larger bandwidth through combination, the ranging performance of the low-cost and low-power UWB device can be improved. Bands shown in the following may be combined into a band with a larger bandwidth by using a band concatenation technology, thereby further improving the ranging performance of the UWB device. An application of performing ranging by using the UWB device is merely an example, and should not be construed as a limitation on embodiments of this application.

[0081] 499.2 MHz shown in this application is merely an example. With progress of the standard, another bandwidth may emerge subsequently. A newly emerging bandwidth has a function similar to that of 499.2 MHz. Any bandwidth that has a function similar to that of 499.2 MHz also falls within the protection scope of this application. In this application, band or frequency band may be replaced with each other. Generally, 500 MHz may be understood as an ultra wideband supported by the UWB device, or a maximum bandwidth of a single band supported by the UWB device. Considering a guard band, 0.8 MHz is used as the guard band 5 between bandwidths. 500 MHz - 0.8 MHz = 499.2 MHz.

[0082] In the IEEE 802.15.4 standard, UWB operating bands are defined as 16 bands numbered from 0 to 15. For example, when the bandwidth is a fixed value of 499.2 MHz, the band may be indicated by using a center frequency, that is, the UWB device may learn of, by using the center frequency, the band on which the UWB device operates. For another example, when the 10 bandwidth is not a fixed value, the band may be jointly indicated by using the center frequency and the bandwidth. For example, a relationship between channel numbers and center frequencies of the 16 bands may be shown in Table 1. Table 1 Band group (band group) Channel number (channel number) Center frequency (center frequency, fc ))(MHz) Bandwidth (bandwidth, BW) (MHz) Mandatory / Optional (mandatory / optional) 0 0 499.2 499.2 Mandatory below 1 GHz (Mandatory below 1 GHz) 1 1 3494.4 499.2 Optional 2 3993.6 499.2 Optional 3 4492.8 499.2 Mandatory 4 3993.6 1331.2 Optional 2 5 6489.6 499.2 Optional 6 6988.8 499.2 Optional 7 6489.6 1081.6 Optional 8 7488.0 499.2 Optional 9 7987.2 499.2 Mandatory in high band (mandatory in high band) 10 8486.4 499.2 Optional 11 7987.2 1331.2 Optional 12 8985.6 499.2 Optional 13 9484.8 499.2 Optional 14 9984.0 499.2 Optional 15 9484.8 1354.97 Optional

[0083] Channel numbers in Table 1 are in one-to-one correspondence with actual channels. The center frequency may also be replaced with a frequency center, and is a center frequency point (or referred to as a center band) of a channel. As shown in Table 1, for the UWB device, the UWB device needs to support a band corresponding to a channel number 0 and a band corresponding to a channel number 9. For descriptions of Table 1, refer to a standard or a protocol. Details are not described herein again.

[0084] In a new draft (draft) standard of 802.15.4ab, a UWB extended channel (for example, 98 extended channels shown in formula (2)) is defined, the center frequency may satisfy formula (1), and a value range of the channel number Nc may be shown in formula (2): fc = 499.2MHz + Nc X 124.8MHz  (1) Nc e [0,97]   (2)

[0085] 499.2 MHz may be understood as a maximum bandwidth of a single band supported by the UWB device (or referred to as a maximum bandwidth for transmitting a UWB signal, or the like), and 124.8 MHz may be understood as a spacing between two adjacent channels.

[0086] For example, the extended channel may support an optional frequency concatenation function of a sensing device (high-rate pulse repetition frequency UWB PHY based sensing device, HRP-SDEV) based on a high-rate pulse repetition frequency UWB physical layer, thereby reducing interference between co-existing UWB networks.

[0087] For formula (1), when Nc=0,   = 499.2 MHz; when Nc=1,   = 624 MHz; when Nc=2,   = 748.8 MHz; when Nc=3,   = 873.6 MHz; when Nc=4,   = 998.4 MHz; and when Nc=5,   = 1123.2 MHz, examples are not enumerated herein.

[0088] It can be learned from the foregoing formula (2) that a quantity of extended channels is 98. 98 extended channels are also used as examples for description in a specific example in the following, but should not be construed as a limitation on embodiments of this application. For example, in addition to the 16 bands shown in Table 1, bandwidths of the remaining 86 channels may support a same bandwidth, for example, 499.2 MHz. In the following example, 98 extended channels are also used as examples. Similarly, in addition to the 16 bands shown in Table 1, bandwidths supported by the remaining 86 channels may be the same, for example, all the bandwidths are 499.2 MHz.

[0089] It can be learned from Table 1 and formula (1) that a same channel number corresponds to different center frequencies in different standards, or in other words, a same center frequency corresponds to different channel numbers in different standards, thereby resulting in a conflict between an operating band defined in the 802.15.4 standard and an operating band proposed in the 802.15.4ab draft. The foregoing conflict causes the UWB device to be unable to effectively determine one center frequency based on a channel number, and affects working performance of the UWB device.

[0090] In view of this, an embodiment of this application further provides a method for determining a channel number and a method for determining a center frequency. The method can effectively ensure matching between a channel number and a center frequency, so that a same channel number corresponds to a same center frequency in different standards, or a same center frequency corresponds to a same channel number in different standards. In other words, a relationship between a channel number and a center frequency in the method may be compatible with an existing standard. Therefore, the UWB device can determine one center frequency based on a channel number, thereby improving working performance of the UWB signal.

[0091] FIG. 3 is a schematic flowchart of a method for determining a channel number and a method for determining a center frequency according to an embodiment of this application. The method shown in FIG. 3 may be divided into the method for determining the channel number and the method for determining the center frequency. Alternatively, the method shown in FIG. 3 may also be referred to as a method for determining information or the like. For a first communication apparatus or a second communication apparatus in the method, refer to the description in FIG. 1 or FIG. 2. Details are not described herein again. As shown in FIG. 3, the method includes the following steps.

[0092] 301: A first communication apparatus sends indication information, where the indication information may indicate a first channel number, and the first channel number is used to identify a first channel. Correspondingly, a second communication apparatus receives the indication information.

[0093] A correspondence exists between the first channel number and an actual first channel. For example, the first channel number may be greater than or equal to 16. A maximum value of the first channel number may be determined based on a quantity of extended channels. For example, the 98 extended channels shown in the foregoing formula (1) are used, and the maximum value of the first channel number may be determined based on the 98 channels. Further, in consideration of a problem of completely overlapping channels, the maximum value of the first channel number may be further determined based on a quantity of channels that do not completely overlap. For the maximum value of the first channel number, refer to formulas shown below. The maximum values shown in the following formulas are merely examples, and should not be construed as a limitation on embodiments of this application.

[0094] A quantity of bits occupied by the indication information may be determined based on the maximum value of the first channel number. For example, the quantity of bits occupied by the indication information may be greater than or equal to 4. For example, the indication information may occupy 7 bits. Alternatively, the indication information may occupy 8 bits or the like. Examples are not enumerated herein. For description of the indication information, further refer to the following examples. Details are not described herein.

[0095] In a possible implementation, before sending the indication information, the first communication apparatus may further determine the first channel number. The first communication apparatus may determine the first channel number based on a center frequency of the first channel. For example, the first communication apparatus may determine the first channel number based on a mapping relationship between the center frequency and the channel number and the center frequency of the first channel.

[0096] For example, the first communication apparatus may determine the first channel number based on a value range of the center frequency of the first channel and the mapping relationship. For example, the first communication apparatus may determine the value range of the center frequency of the first channel, and determine a mapping relationship corresponding to the value range of the center frequency of the first channel, to determine the first channel number. For another example, during specific implementation, the first communication apparatus may directly determine the first channel number by using the following formula (3), formula (4), formula (7), formula (9), or the like. Formula (3), formula (4), formula (7), or formula (9) shown below still meet that center frequencies in different value ranges correspond to different mapping relationships. In other words, when the center frequencies are in different value ranges, the first communication apparatus may use different mapping relationships.

[0097] A mapping relationship may indicate a relationship between a channel number and a center frequency of a channel. The mapping relationship may include a relationship between at least two channel numbers and center frequencies of at least two channels. Alternatively, the mapping relationship may include a relationship between M channel numbers and center frequencies of M channels identified by the M channel numbers. M is an integer greater than or equal to 2. The M channel numbers include the first channel number, and the M channels include the first channel.

[0098] A value range of the center frequencies of the M channels may include at least two value ranges, and the mapping relationship corresponding to each of the at least two value ranges is different. For example, the M channels include the first channel and a second channel, the value range of the center frequency of the first channel is a value range #1, a value range of a center frequency of the second channel is a value range #2, and the mapping relationship (for example, a first mapping relationship) corresponding to the center frequency of the first channel may be different from a mapping relationship (for example, a second mapping relationship) corresponding to the center frequency of the second channel. In other words, a mapping relationship (for example, a formula) used when the first communication apparatus determines a channel number based on a center frequency of a channel may be different.

[0099] For example, the mapping relationship may be used to describe a relationship between a channel number, a center frequency of a channel, a spacing between two adjacent channels, and a maximum bandwidth of a single band supported by a UWB device.

[00100] The mapping relationship may be represented by using a formula (may also be referred to as a function relationship), as shown in formula (3) below. Alternatively, the mapping relationship may be represented in a table manner, as shown in Table 2 below. Alternatively, the mapping relationship may be represented in a set manner, or the like. A specific form of the mapping relationship is not limited in embodiments of this application. A manner of representing the mapping relationship by using a formula in the following is merely an example. A relationship between the center frequency and the channel number that is calculated by using the formula shown in the following may also be represented in another manner, for example, a table or a set.

[00101] As a possible implementation 1, the mapping relationship may satisfy: Nc = -9^.,+ + 15  (3) 124.8MHz           v 7 fc $ {3494.4 MHz, 3993.6MHz, 4492.8 MHz, 6489.6MHz, 6988.8MHz, 7488MHz, 7987.2MHz, 8486.4MHz, 8985.6MHz, 9484.8MHz, 9984MH}}

[00102] Nc represents a channel number, represents a center frequency of a channel, 499.2 MHz represents a maximum bandwidth of a single band supported by the UWB device, and 124.8 MHz represents a spacing between two adjacent channels.

[00103] Based on formula (3), when fc = 3494.4 MHz, Nc=39. It can be learned from Table 1 that, when / , = 3494.4 MHz , Nc=1. Therefore, for the mapping relationship shown in the foregoing formula (3), fc £ {3494.4 MHz, 3993.6MHz, 4492.8 MHz, 6489.6MHz, 6988.8MHz, 7488MHz, 7987.2MHz, 8486.4MHz, 8985.6MHz, 9484.8MHz, 9984MHz}. This can effectively avoid channel overlapping.

[00104] When = 3494.4 MHz, Nc = 1; when = 3993.6 MHz, Nc = 2; when = 4492.8 MHz, Nc = 3; when = 6489.6 MHz, Nc = 5; when = 6988.8 MHz, Nc = 6; when = 7488 MHz, Nc = 8; when = 67987.2 MHz, Nc = 9; when = 8486.4 MHz, Nc = 10; when = 8985.6 MHz, Nc = 11; and when = 9484.8 MHz, Nc = 13. When = 9984 MHz, Nc = 14.

[00105] For example, may be greater than or equal to 499.2 MHz. For example, a maximum value of may be determined based on a quantity of extended channels and a spacing between two adjacent channels; or determined based on a quantity of extended channels, a maximum bandwidth of a single band supported by the UWB device, and a spacing between two adjacent channels. For example, may be less than or equal to 12604.8 MHz. The description of herein is also applicable to an implementation 2, and details are not described below again.

[00106] For formula (3), when is equal to at least one of the following, the relationship between and Nc may be understood as a mapping relationship, and when is not equal to at least one of the following, the relationship between and Nc may be understood as another mapping relationship. For example, when the center frequency of the first channel is equal to any one of the following, the first mapping relationship corresponding to the center frequency of the first channel may be shown above. When the center frequency of the first channel is not equal to any one of the following, the first mapping relationship corresponding to the center frequency of the first channel may be shown in formula (3). For implementation 1, the mapping relationship may also be understood as a mapping relationship. A specific implementation is not limited in embodiments of this application:

[00107] 3494.4 MHz, 3993.6 MHz, 4492.8 MHz, 6489.6 MHz, 6988.8 MHz, 7488 MHz, 7987.2 MHz, 8486.4 MHz, 8985.6 MHz, 9484.8 MHz, and 9984 MHz.

[00108] For example, for a description that Nc is greater than or equal to 0 and less than or equal to 15, further refer to Table 1.

[00109] In embodiments of this application, the mapping relationship shown in the foregoing formula (3) may be effectively compatible with a channel number (as shown in Table 1) in an existing standard, thereby effectively avoiding a case in which a same channel number corresponds to two center frequencies or a same center frequency corresponds to two channel numbers. In addition, the mapping relationship shown in implementation 1 is simple, and operation complexity is simplified.

[00110] In embodiments of this application, 499.2 MHz or 124.8 MHz is merely an example. With progress of a standard, another value may further appear subsequently to indicate the maximum bandwidth of the single band supported by the UWB device and a spacing between two adjacent channels. In other words, even if another value appears subsequently, the relationship between the center frequency and the channel number can be determined by using the mapping relationship shown in embodiments of this application, which falls within the protection scope of embodiments of this application. The description of 499.2 MHz or 124.8 MHz herein is also applicable below.

[00111] As another possible implementation 2, the mapping relationship may include a relationship among the M channel numbers, the center frequencies of the M channels, and at least one adjustment parameter. The adjustment parameter may be used to describe adjustment of mapping relationships corresponding to different value ranges when the center frequency is in different value ranges.

[00112] In an example, the mapping relationship may satisfy formula (4): Nc = Mc + a-bx |^| (4) Me e [1,23], a = 15,b = 0 Mc e [25,31], a = 14, b = 1,c = 25 Me e [33,47], a = 12, b = 0 Mc e [49, 75], a = 11, b = 1, c = 49 Mc e [77, 97],a = 4,b = 0

[00113] Nc represents a channel number, and Mc is a parameter determined by a center frequency fc of a channel. [%J represents a rounding down operation on x. For formula (4), x = Mc-c              ,.              ,       ,     . .         ,                                  ,,          ,.     , ----. The rounding down shown herein is merely an example. For example, the rounding down 4                  ~                                  - may be replaced with another manner in which a rounding operation can be achieved.

[00114] For example, Mc satisfies formula (5): fc-499.2MHz Mc = ------- 124.8MHz (5)

[00115] With reference to formula (5), a relationship between Mc and may also be shown in formula (6): fc = Mc x 124.8 MHz + 499.2 MHz (6)

[00116] With reference to formula (6), formula (4) may also be transformed into: fc-499.2MHz Nc = / C-499.2MHZ + a - b x | 1248^ -CJ (7) 124.8MHz               L      4      J fc e [624 MHz, 3369.6 MHz], a = 15, b = 0 fc e [3619.2 MHz, 4368 MHz], a = 14,b = 1,c = 25 fc e [4617 .6MHz, 6364.8 MHz], a = 12,b = 0 fc e [6614.4 MHz, 9859.2 MHz], a = 11, b = 1,c = 49 fc e [10108.8 MHz, 12604.8 MHz], a = 4,b = 0

[00117] It can be learned from formula (4) or formula (7) that when the value range of the center frequency is different, the mapping relationship for determining the channel number based on the center frequency is also different. For example, when fc e [624 MHz, 3369.6 MHz], the mapping relationship may be: Nc=   ^^^M^ + 15 . For another example, when fc e _     _ _             _   _         -                                  _                           .               fc-499.2MHz [3619.2 MHz, 4368 MHz] , the mapping relationship may be: Nc = 1248MHz—+ 14-fc-499.2MHz 2g । i24.8mhz----j . For another example, when fc e [4617 MHz, 6364.8 MHz] , the mapping 4 ,           fc-499.2MHz   „„   „      ,      .■ ,-nn relationship may be: Nc =--+ 12 . Examples of different value ranges are not 1      J               124.8MHz                                                  ° enumerated herein.

[00118] In another example, the mapping relationship may satisfy formula (8): Nc = Me+ 15- l{Mc > 25} - l{Mc > 29} - l{Mc > 33} - l{Mc > 49} - 1 {Me > 53} - l{Mc > 57} - l{Mc > 61} - l{Mc > 65} - l{Mc > 69} - l{Mc > 73} - 1 {Mc > 77}   (8)

[00119] For description of Mc, refer to the foregoing formula (6). Details are not described herein again.

[00120] Formula (8) may also be considered as a transformation of formula (4). Based on a transformation of formula (7) to formula (4), formula (8) may also be transformed into: Nc _ fc-499.2MHz      _  (fc-499.2MHz >   j _  (fc-499.2MHz >   j _ 124.8MHz          X (. 124.8MHz  —          } 124.8MHz  — ’j rfc-499.2MHz I 124.8MHz > 33} -^ / c-499^^ > 49} -^^-499^ > 53} -  { / c-499.2MHz > 57} - J      1 124.8MHz        J      1 124.8MHz        J      I 124.8MHz        J fc-499.2MHz } 124.8MHz > 61} -^ / c-499^^ > 65} -r^-4".2^ > 69} - t p-4"^ > 73} _ )      1 124.8MHz        J      (. 124.8MHz        J      (. 124.8MHz        J rfc-499.2MHz I 124.8MHz > 77}     (9)

[00121] For description of formula (9), refer to formula (7). Details are not described herein again.

[00122] For descriptions of formula (4) to formula (9), Nc is greater than or equal to 0 and less than or equal to 15. For details, further refer to Table 1.

[00123] In embodiments of this application, the mapping relationship shown in the foregoing formula (4), formula (7), or formula (9) may be effectively compatible with a channel number (as shown in Table 1) in an existing standard, thereby effectively avoiding a case in which a same channel number corresponds to two center frequencies or a same center frequency corresponds to two channel numbers. In addition, the mapping relationship shown in implementation 2 is more detailed and more coordinated.

[00124] 302: The second communication apparatus determines a center frequency of the first channel based on the first channel number and a mapping relationship.

[00125] As shown in step 301, the mapping relationship may include the relationship between M channel numbers and the center frequencies of the M channels identified by the M channel numbers.

[00126] A value range of the M channel numbers may include at least two value ranges, and the mapping relationship corresponding to each of the at least two value ranges is different. For example, the M channels include the first channel and the second channel, a number of the first channel is the first channel number, and a number of the second channel is a second channel number. For example, a value range of the first channel number is a value range #3, and a value range of the second channel number is a value range #3, a mapping relationship (for example, a first mapping relationship) corresponding to the first channel number may be different from a mapping relationship (for example, a second mapping relationship) corresponding to the second channel number. In other words, the mapping relationship (for example, a formula) used when the second communication apparatus determines a center frequency based on a channel number may be different. For other descriptions of the mapping relationship, refer to step 301. Details are not described herein again.

[00127] As a possible implementation 3, the mapping relationship may satisfy: fc = 499.2MHz + (Nc - 15) x 124.8MHz   (10) Nc G [16,112], Nc ? {39,43,47,63,67,71,75,79,83,87,91}

[00128] For related descriptions of formula (10), refer to formula (3). Details are not described herein again. The foregoing formula (3) and formula (10) may be considered as having an equivalent relationship. Because the first communication apparatus and the second communication apparatus have different determined objects, the first communication apparatus and the second communication apparatus have different forms.

[00129] For formula (10), a maximum value of Nc is 112, which is shown by taking 98 extended channels as an example. When channel numbers shown in Table 1 are {4, 7, 11, 15}, center frequencies corresponding to the four channel numbers overlap center frequencies corresponding to {39,43,47,63,67,71,75,79,83,87,91 }. Therefore, except the foregoing 11 channel numbers ((that is {39,43,47,63,67,71,75,79,83,87,91}), a maximum value of an extended channel number in embodiments of this application may be 112 (that is, 97 + 4 + 11 = 112), and center frequencies corresponding to the 98 channel numbers do not conflict with the center frequencies in Table 1.

[00130] Compared with formula (1), the numbers before and after modification of the extended channel have a fixed difference in formula (10), that is, 15. Therefore, compared with formula (1), formula (10) has a small change, a simple design, and is compatible with an existing standard.

[00131] For example, during specific implementation, the first communication apparatus may determine the channel number based on the foregoing formula (3), and the second communication apparatus may determine the center frequency based on the foregoing formula (10). In other words, when the mapping relationship is represented by using a formula, the mapping relationships stored in the first communication apparatus and the second communication apparatus may be different. For example, during specific implementation, the mapping relationship may alternatively be represented by using a table. In this case, both the first communication apparatus and the second communication apparatus may store a table of the center frequency and the channel number. The table may be shown in Table 2 below. The description of the first communication apparatus and the second communication apparatus herein is also applicable to other implementations, and details are not described below again.

[00132] As another possible implementation 4, the mapping relationship may include a relationship among the M channel numbers, the center frequencies of the M channels, and at least one adjustment parameter.

[00133] In an example, the mapping relationship may satisfy: fc = 499.2MHz + (Nc - a + b x L    _l) X 124.8MHz  (11) Nc e [16,38],a = 15,b = 0 Nc e [39,44], a = 14, b = 1,c = 39 Nc e [45,59], a = 12, b = 0 Nc e [60,80], a = 11, b = 1,c = 60 Nc e [81,101], a = 4, b = 0

[00134] fc represents a center frequency of a channel, Ncrepresents a channel number, and a, b, and c are all adjustment parameters.

[00135] For formula (11), a maximum value of Nc is 101 (that is, 97 + 4 = 101), which is shown by taking 98 extended channels as an example.

[00136] For related descriptions of formula (11), refer to formula (4) or formula (7). Details are not described herein again. The foregoing formula (4) (or formula (7)) and formula (11) may be considered as having an equivalent relationship. Because the first communication apparatus and the second communication apparatus have different determined objects, the first communication apparatus and the second communication apparatus have different forms. For related descriptions of the storage of the first communication apparatus and the second communication apparatus, refer to the description of formula (10). Details are not described herein again.

[00137] In another example, the mapping relationship may satisfy: fc = 499.2MHz + (Nc - 15 - l{Nc > 39} + l{Nc > 42} + l{Nc > 45} + 1 {Nc > 60} + l{Nc > 63} + l{Nc > 66} + l{Nc > 69} + l{Nc > 72} + l{Nc > 75} + 1 {Nc > 78} + l{Nc > 81}) x 124.8Mrtz (12) Nc e [16,101] where fc represents a center frequency of a channel, and Nc represents a channel number.

[00138] For related descriptions of formula (12), refer to formula (8). Details are not described herein again. The foregoing formula (8) and formula (12) may be considered as having an equivalent relationship. Because formula (4) or formula (7) is also a transformation of formula (8), formula (12) and formula (4) (or formula (7)) may also be considered as having an equivalent relationship. Because the first communication apparatus (for example, a channel number is determined) and the second communication apparatus (for example, a center frequency is determined) have different determined objects, the first communication apparatus and the second communication apparatus have different forms. For related descriptions of the storage of the first communication apparatus and the second communication apparatus, refer to the description of formula (10). Details are not described herein again.

[00139] After determining the center frequency of the first channel, the second communication apparatus performs a ranging procedure, a sensing procedure, or the like on the first channel. A specific application of the center frequency of the first channel is not limited in embodiments of this application.

[00140] In embodiments of this application, the first communication apparatus can determine one channel number based on a center frequency, and the second communication apparatus can determine one center frequency based on a channel number, thereby being effectively compatible with an existing standard. Because the second communication apparatus can determine a center frequency that matches a channel number, ranging performance or sensing performance of the second communication apparatus can be further improved. The ranging performance or the sensing performance shown herein is merely an example. With progress of the standard, the second communication apparatus, combined with the center frequency of the first channel, may be further applied to another field, and details are not described herein again. For example, the UWB device may further obtain a larger bandwidth through combination by using the foregoing extended channel and band concatenation technology, thereby further improving the sensing performance or the ranging performance.

[00145] For channel numbers 0 to 16 shown in Table 2, refer to the foregoing formula (1). Details are not described herein again.

[00146] The following describes the method shown in FIG. 3 with reference to a specific example.

[00147] Example 1

[00148] Indication information may be carried in a UWB channel (UWB channel) field. That is, the UWB channel field may indicate a channel number. The UWB channel field may be carried in a multi-millisecond (multi-millisecond, MMS) ranging configuration (MMS ranging configuration) in a ranging control (ranging control) field of an application control (application control, AC IE) field.

[00149] For example, for a UWB ranging procedure, a first communication apparatus may be a controller. The controller may send a frame including an AC IE field, and the AC IE field may include ranging configuration information. The ranging configuration information may include but is not limited to the channel number indicated by the UWB channel field. That is, the controller may indicate, by using the UWB channel field, the channel number used by a second communication apparatus during ranging. The second communication apparatus may determine a center frequency of a channel based on the channel number indicated by the UWB channel field, and further perform subsequent processing. For example, the second communication apparatus may send a signal, receive a signal, or the like at the center frequency determined by the second communication apparatus. A beam of the signal may also be related to the center frequency. For example, for coherent demodulation processing, the second communication apparatus may demodulate, based on the center frequency of the channel, a signal received by the second communication apparatus and a local oscillator signal. For another example, the second communication apparatus may perform energy detection in a bandwidth range corresponding to the center frequency of the channel, and further determine whether a signal exists.

[00150] FIG. 4a is a diagram of a format of an existing MMS ranging configuration field. As shown in FIG. 4a, the MMS ranging configuration field may include at least one of the following: a quantity of ranging sequence fragments (ranging sequence fragment, RSF), a quantity of ranging integrity fragments (ranging integrity fragment, RIF), a preamble code index (preamble code index), a multi-millisecond ranging sequence (multi-millisecond ranging sequence, MMRS) gap size (MMRS gap size), MMRS symbol repetitions (MMRS symbol repetitions, MSR for MMRS), a scrambled timestamp sequence (scrambled timestamp sequence, STS) segment length (STS segment length), and a UWB channel (UWB channel). For descriptions of the fields in FIG. 4a, refer to a related standard or protocol. Details are not described herein.

[00151] It can be learned from FIG. 4a that the UWB channel field occupies 4 bits, and the 4 bits correspond to the 16 channels shown in Table 1. However, for the 98 extended channels, at least 7 bits are required. Certainly, as the quantity of extended channels changes, the quantity of bits occupied by the UWB channel field may also change. Examples are not enumerated herein.

[00152] FIG. 4b is a diagram of a format of an MMS ranging configuration field according to an embodiment of this application. As shown in FIG. 4b, the UWB channel field may occupy 7 bits. For example, a value indicated by the UWB channel field may be in one-to-one correspondence with a channel number. A specific manner in which the UWB channel field indicates the channel number is not limited in this application.

[00153] FIG. 4c is a diagram of another format of an MMS ranging configuration field according to an embodiment of this application. As shown in FIG. 4c, bits 24 to 27 shown in FIG. 4a are not changed, and the first 3 bits are selected from bits 28 to 31 of a reserved field to supplement the bits 24 to 27. For example, the bits 24 to 27 may be used as the least significant bits (least significant bit, LSB) of the channel number, and the bits 28 to 31 may be used as the most significant bits (most significant bit, MSB) of the channel number. The 7 bits may cooperatively indicate the 98 extended UWB channels. The indication manner shown in FIG. 4c does not change an existing channel indication manner, and may be further compatible with an indication manner of 16 channels shown in Table 1.

[00154] Example 2

[00155] Indication information may be carried in a channel ID (channel ID) field in a receive report control (receive report control) field in a receive report (receive report) field. That is, the channel ID field may indicate a channel number.

[00156] For example, for a UWB sensing procedure, a sensing device may send a frame carrying a channel impulse response (channel impulse response, CIR) report information element (information element, IE) (CIR report IE) field. The receive report field in the CIR report IE content field may carry the channel ID field. That is, a first communication apparatus may indicate, by using the channel ID field, a channel number used by a second communication apparatus during sensing. The second communication apparatus may determine a center frequency of a channel based on the channel number indicated by the channel ID field, and further perform subsequent processing.

[00157] FIG. 5 is a diagram of a format of a CIR report IE content field according to an embodiment of this application. As shown in FIG. 5, the CIR report IE content field may include at least one of the following: report ID control (report ID control), report parameters control (report parameters control), and receive report(s) (receive report(s)). For related descriptions of the fields, refer to a standard or a protocol. Details are not described herein.

[00158] The channel ID field may occupy 7 bits. For a specific manner of the 7 bits, refer to FIG. 4b or FIG. 4c. Details are not described herein again.

[00159] Example 3

[00160] Indication information may be carried in a UWB channel field in a ranging PHY configuration field (ranging PHY configuration field). That is, the UWB channel field may indicate a channel number.

[00161] For example, for a ranging procedure, a first communication apparatus may send a frame that includes the ranging PHY configuration field. The UWB channel field in the ranging PHY configuration field may indicate a channel number used by a second communication apparatus during ranging. The second communication apparatus determines a center frequency of a channel based on the channel number indicated by the UWB channel field, and further performs subsequent processing.

[00162] FIG. 6a is a diagram of a format of an existing ranging PHY configuration field. As shown in FIG. 6a, the ranging PHY configuration field may include at least one of the following: a sequence code index (sequence code index), MMRS complementary set zeros (MMRS complementary set zeros), MMRS symbol repetitions (N_MSR), an STS segment length, and a UWB channel. For descriptions of the fields in FIG. 6a, refer to a related standard or protocol. Details are not described herein.

[00163] FIG. 6b is a diagram of a format of a ranging PHY configuration field according to an embodiment of this application. For description of FIG. 6b, refer to FIG. 4b. Details are not described herein again.

[00164] FIG. 6c is a diagram of another format of a ranging PHY configuration field according to an embodiment of this application. For description of FIG. 6c, refer to FIG. 4c. Details are not described herein again.

[00165] A communication apparatus provided in an embodiment of this application is described below.

[00166] In this application, the communication apparatus is divided into functional modules based on the foregoing method embodiments. For example, each functional module may be divided based on each corresponding function, or two or more functions may be integrated into one processing module. The integrated module may be implemented in a form of hardware, or may be implemented in a form of a software functional module. It should be noted that, in this application, module division is an example, and is merely a logical function division. In actual implementation, another division manner may be used. [00173] In the foregoing embodiments, for specific descriptions of terms, steps, or the like, refer to the descriptions in the foregoing method embodiments. Details are not described herein again.

[00174] Specific descriptions of the transceiver module and the processing module shown in the foregoing embodiments are merely examples. For specific functions or steps performed by the transceiver module and the processing module, refer to the foregoing method embodiments. Details are not described herein again.

[00175] It may be understood that module division in the foregoing communication apparatus is merely logical function division. Each function may correspond to one functional module, or two or more functions may be integrated into one functional module. During actual implementation, all or some modules may be integrated into one physical entity, or may be distributed on different physical entities. In addition, the foregoing functional modules may be implemented in a form of hardware, or may be implemented in a form of software, or may be implemented in a form of hardware in combination with software. Whether a function is performed by hardware or software depends on particular applications and design constraint conditions of the technical solutions. A person skilled in the art may use different methods to implement the described functions for each particular application, but it should not be considered that the implementation goes beyond the scope of this application.

[00176] In an example, a functional module in any one of the foregoing apparatuses may be one or more integrated circuits configured to implement the foregoing method, for example, one or more application-specific integrated circuits (application-specific integrated circuit, ASIC), one or more central processing units (central processing unit, CPU), one or more microcontroller units (Microcontroller Unit, MCU), one or more digital signal processors (digital signal processor, DSP), one or more field programmable gate arrays (field programmable gate array, FPGA), or a combination of at least two of these integrated circuit forms.

After the information is outputted by the processor, other processing may further need to be performed on the information before the information arrives at the transceiver. Similarly, a process of receiving information in the foregoing method may be a process of receiving the input information by the processor. When the processor receives the input information, the transceiver receives the information, and inputs the information into the processor. Further, after the transceiver receives the information, other processing may need to be performed on the information before processed information is input into the processor.

[00179] FIG. 8 is a diagram of a structure of an apparatus according to an embodiment of this application. As shown in FIG. 8, the apparatus 80 includes one or more processors 820 and a transceiver 810.

[00180] In some embodiments of this application, the apparatus may be configured to perform steps, methods, or functions performed by the first communication apparatus. For example, the processor 820 may be configured to perform functions or steps implemented by the processing module 701 shown in FIG. 7. The transceiver 810 may be configured to perform functions or steps implemented by the transceiver module 702 shown in FIG. 7. For specific descriptions of the processor 820 and the transceiver 810, refer to FIG. 7 or the foregoing method embodiments. Details are not described herein again.

[00181] In some other embodiments of this application, the apparatus is configured to perform steps, methods, or functions performed by the second communication apparatus. The receiver is configured to perform a function (or operation) of receiving, and the transmitter is configured to perform a function (or operation) of transmitting. The transceiver is configured to communicate with another device / apparatus through a transmission medium.

[00183] Optionally, the apparatus 80 may further include one or more memories 830, configured to store program instructions and / or data. The memory 830 is coupled to the processor 820. The coupling in embodiments of this application may be an indirect coupling or a communication connection between apparatuses, units, or modules in an electrical form, a mechanical form, or another form, and is used for information exchange between the apparatuses, the units, or the modules. The processor 820 may cooperate with the memory 830. The processor 820 may execute the program instructions stored in the memory 830. Optionally, at least one of the one or more memories may be included in the processor.

[00184] In embodiments of this application, a specific connection medium among the transceiver 810, the processor 820 and the memory 830 is not limited. In embodiments of this application, in FIG. 8, the memory 830, the processor 820, and the transceiver 810 are connected to each other by using a bus 840. The bus is represented by using a thick line in FIG. 8. A manner of connection between other components is only schematically described, but is not used as a limitation. The bus may be classified into an address bus, a data bus, a control bus, and the like. For ease of representation, only one thick line is for representing the bus in FIG. 8, but this does not mean that there is only one bus or only one type of bus.

[00185] In embodiments of this application, the processor may be a general-purpose processor, a digital signal processor, an application-specific integrated circuit, a field programmable gate array or another programmable logic device, a discrete gate or a transistor logic device, a discrete hardware component, or the like, and can implement or perform the methods, the steps, and the logical block diagrams disclosed in embodiments of this application. The general purpose processor may be a microprocessor or any conventional processor or the like. The steps of the methods disclosed in combination with embodiments of this application may be directly implemented by a hardware processor, or may be implemented by using a combination of hardware and software modules in the processor, or the like.

[00186] In embodiments of this application, the memory may include but is not limited to a nonvolatile memory such as a hard disk drive (hard disk drive, HDD) or a solid-state drive (solid state drive, SSD), a random access memory (Random Access Memory, RAM), an erasable programmable read-only memory (Erasable Programmable ROM, EPROM), a read-only memory (Read-Only Memory, ROM), or a portable read-only memory (Compact Disc Read-Only Memory, CD-ROM). [00187] The processor 820 is mainly configured to: process a communication protocol and communication data, control the entire apparatus, execute a software program, and process data of the software program. The memory 830 is mainly configured to store the software program and the data. The transceiver 810 may include a control circuit and an antenna. The control circuit is mainly configured to: perform conversion between a baseband signal and a radio frequency signal, and process the radio frequency signal. The antenna is mainly configured to receive and send a radio frequency signal in a form of an electromagnetic wave. The input / output apparatus, for example, a touchscreen, a display, a keyboard, is mainly configured to: receive data from a user and output data to the user.

[00188] After the apparatus is powered on, the processor 820 may read the software program in the memory 830, explain and execute instructions of the software program, and process data of the software program. When data needs to be wirelessly sent, after performing baseband processing on the to-be-sent data, the processor 820 outputs a baseband signal to a radio frequency circuit. After performing radio frequency processing on the baseband signal, the radio frequency circuit sends a radio frequency signal in the form of the electromagnetic wave via the antenna. When data is sent to the apparatus, the radio frequency circuit receives a radio frequency signal via the antenna, converts the radio frequency signal into a baseband signal, and outputs the baseband signal to the processor 820. The processor 820 converts the baseband signal into data, and processes the data.

[00189] In another implementation, the radio frequency circuit and the antenna may be disposed independent of the processor that performs baseband processing. For example, in a distributed scenario, the radio frequency circuit and the antenna may be disposed remotely and independent of the apparatus.

[00190] The apparatus shown in embodiments of this application may further have more components than those in FIG. 8, or the like. This is not limited in embodiments of this application. The methods performed by the processor and the transceiver are merely examples. For specific steps performed by the processor and the transceiver, refer to the methods described above.

[00191] In another possible implementation, in the apparatus shown in FIG. 7, the processing module 701 may be one or more logic circuits, and the transceiver module 702 may be an input / output interface that is also referred to as a communication interface, an interface circuit, an interface, or the like. Alternatively, the transceiver module 702 may be a sending module and a receiving module. The sending module may be an output interface, and the receiving module may be an input interface. The sending module and the receiving module are integrated into one module, for example, an input / output interface.

[00192] FIG. 9 is a diagram of a structure of an apparatus according to an embodiment of this application. As shown in FIG. 9, the apparatus shown in FIG. 9 includes a logic circuit 901 and an interface 902. That is, the processing module 701 may be implemented by using the logic circuit 901, and the transceiver module 702 may be implemented by using the interface 902. The logic circuit 901 may be a chip, a processing circuit, an integrated circuit, a system on chip (system on chip, SoC), or the like. The interface 902 may be a communication interface, an input / output interface, a pin, an interface circuit, or the like. For example, FIG. 9 is an example in which the foregoing apparatus is used as a chip. The chip includes the logic circuit 901 and the interface 902.

[00193] In embodiments of this application, the logic circuit and the interface may be coupled to each other. A specific manner of connection between the logic circuit and the interface is not limited in embodiments of this application. For example, the logic circuit 901 may be configured to perform functions or steps implemented by the processing module 701 shown in FIG. 7, and the interface 902 may be configured to perform functions or steps implemented by the transceiver module 702 shown in FIG. 7. For specific descriptions of the logic circuit 901 and the interface 902, refer to FIG. 7 or the foregoing method embodiments. Details are not described herein again.

The first communication apparatus and the second communication apparatus may be configured to perform the method in any one of the foregoing embodiments.

[00196] In addition, this application further provides a computer program. The computer program is configured to implement operations and / or processing performed by apparatuses in the methods provided in this application.

[00197] This application further provides a computer-readable storage medium. The computer- readable storage medium stores computer code. When the computer code is run on a computer, the computer is caused to perform operations and / or processing performed by the apparatuses in the methods provided in this application.

[00198] This application further provides a computer program product. The computer program product includes computer code or a computer program. When the computer code or the computer program is run on a computer, operations and / or processing performed by communication apparatuses in the method provided in this application are / is performed.

[00199] In the several embodiments provided in this application, it should be understood that the disclosed system, apparatus, and method may be implemented in other manners. For example, the described apparatus embodiments are merely examples. For example, division into modules is merely logical functional division.
