Composite structure with an infused functional structure

Abstract

Composite structures and methods of forming composite structures are presented. A composite structure comprises a first plurality of prepreg plies, a second plurality of prepreg plies, and an infused functional structure between the first plurality of prepreg plies and the second plurality of prepreg plies. The infused functional structure comprises a first number of insulative layers, a second number of insulative layers, a functional ply comprising a number of functional components between the first number of insulative layers and the second number of insulative layers, and a resin infused into the first number of insulative layers and the second number of insulative layers.
