Description

In an alternative example, the fastener cover 18 may be in the form of a set screw cap or a sticker. In yet another example, the fastener cover 18 may be in the form of a plug which may be applied by way of silicone or the like. The fastener cover 18 may be coloured in a contrasting colour so as to stand out against the colour of the joint edge protection apparatus 10 for easy identification for bolt / fastener removal after the second pour. The first component and the second component may be allowed to partially dry / cure prior to the finishing of the components by screeding and / or trowelling. Examples of the present invention may provide the following features / advantages: • The fastener cover may be in the form of a plastic hex socket protective cap or a waterproof sticker cover for a countersunk rivet set screw (Flush Joiner Bolt) on plate type Armoured Edge Joints. • The fastener cover may be pushed into a hex socket or stuck on top of a bolt / fastener hole after fastening Armoured Edge Joint top plates together before 1st concrete pour. • The fastener cover may sit relatively flush with top surface of Armoured Edge Joint to allow for smooth slab / joint finishing (screeding or trowelling). • The fastener cover may block off hex socket and top of bolt from filling with concrete slurry when finishing over the joint (both 1st and 2nd pours). • The fastener cover can be easily removed after the 2nd concrete pour and removes all concrete slurry allowing the steel joiner bolt to be easily removed before concrete shrinkage, preventing slab lock up (critical to joint function). • The fastener cover may have a bright colour to allow for easy visual identification onsite of joiner bolt locations and of joiner bolts which have yet to be removed (critical function indicator). • Reusable if plastic cap. Reduces onsite waste. • If in the form of a sticker, the fastener cover may have a warning label applied for added indication onsite. • Examples of the present invention may work with different joint types (Plate 2025283604   19 Dec 2025 30, Plate 60 and WavePlate™ ArmourMate™) as well as nodal intersections (removable top plates) for each. While various embodiments of the present invention have been described above, it should be understood that they have been presented by way of example only, and not by way 5 of limitation. It will be apparent to a person skilled in the relevant art that various changes in form and detail can be made therein without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention. Thus, the present invention should not be limited by any of the above described exemplary embodiments. Throughout this specification and the claims which follow, unless the context 10 requires otherwise, the word "comprise", and variations such as "comprises" and "comprising", will be understood to imply the inclusion of a stated integer or step or group of integers or steps but not the exclusion of any other integer or step or group of integers or steps. The reference in this specification to any prior publication (or information derived 15 from it), or to any matter which is known, is not, and should not be taken as an acknowledgment or admission or any form of suggestion that that prior publication (or information derived from it) or known matter forms part of the common general knowledge. 2025283604   19 Dec 2025 List of numbered features Joint edge protection apparatus                    10 First anchorage part                               12 Second anchorage part                           14 5          Countersunk fastener                             16 Fastener cover                                    18 First element                                     20 Second element                               22 Engagement cavity                            24 10          Protrusion                                        26 Top plate                                       28

Claims

1. A joint edge protection apparatus for protecting an edge of a first componentformed of settable material and an edge of a second component formed of settable material at a joint, wherein the apparatus includes a first anchorage part for anchoring within the first component and a second anchorage part for anchoring within the second component, wherein the second anchorage part is adapted to be movable relative to the first anchorage part, wherein said joint edge protection apparatus is coupled to a like joint edge protection apparatus by a countersunk fastener, and wherein a fastener cover is applied to cover said countersunk fastener to prevent ingress of settable material in said countersunk fastener during finishing of the components.

2. A joint edge protection apparatus including a first element and a second elementfor protection of a joint between components formed of settable material, wherein the first element is coupled to the second element by a countersunk fastener, and wherein a fastener cover is applied to cover said countersunk fastener to prevent ingress of settable material in said countersunk fastener during finishing of the components.

3. A joint edge protection apparatus as claimed in claim 2, wherein the countersunkfastener has an engagement cavity for receiving a tool for driving the fastener and wherein the fastener covers the engagement cavity to prevent ingress of settable material in the engagement cavity.

4. A joint edge protection apparatus as claimed in claim 3, wherein saidcountersunk fastener is countersunk into a top plate of said first element.

5. A joint edge protection apparatus as claimed in anyone of claims 1 to 4, whereinsaid finishing of the components is done by screeding and / or trowelling.2025283604   19 Dec 2025- 10 -6.         A method of forming a joint between concrete components, including the stepsof providing a joint edge protection apparatus including a first element and a second element, fastening said first element to said second element using a countersunk fastener, applying a fastener cover to cover said countersunk fastener, pouring a first component of settable material for anchoring said first element and said second element, pouring a second component of settable material for further anchoring said first element and said second element, finishing the components to provide an improved surface, removing the fastener cover to expose said countersunk fastener, and removing said countersunk fastener to allow movement of the first element relative to the second element.

7. A method of forming a joint as claimed in claim 6, wherein said removal of saidcountersunk fastener allows movement of the first element relative to the second element during shrinkage of the components during setting of the settable material.
