Brattice Support for Underground Mining Applications

Abstract

11 Abstract A brattice support for securing brattice sails in underground mining environments comprises telescopically engaged outer and inner tubes with a compression mechanism located within the outer tube. The compression mechanism includes a carriage and a compression spring configured to extend the inner tube from the outer tube. A pin associated with the carriage is positioned within a longitudinal track in the outer tube and engages a series of side notches to lock the carriage in place under compression. Aligned apertures in the outer tube provide additional structural engagement for the pin, enhancing stability. The support allows for in situ adjustment of height and tension while remaining upright, improving efficiency and safety during installation.
