Abstract
A mobile robotic system and a method for autonomous handling and sortation of parcels using thereof are described. The mobile robotic system includes an automated guided vehicle (AGV), a plurality of independently actuatable lifting units mounted on the AGV to receive and transport at least one parcel, and at least one motor operatively coupled to the lifting units and configured to actuate the lifting units to facilitate parcel discharge. The plurality of independently actuatable lifting units are arranged to enable selective parcel discharge at designated destination points. The mobile robotic system also includes a controller configured to receive parcel data, map parcels to specific lifting units, generate a sortation sequence, and control actuation of the lifting units.
