Specifically, the disclosure relates to a wireless strain measurement system comprising: a host device configured to communicate with one or more peripheral devices; and the one or more peripheral devices, each comprising: one or more strain measurement units, each comprising: a strain gauge in direct contact with and configured to measure strain on a material sample in a plurality of orientations relative to the material sample; circuitry configured to process strain measurement signals from the strain gauge; and a communication module configured to transmit processed strain measurement data to the host device.
