Description

FIELD OF INVENTION

[0001] The present disclosure relates to mounting assemblies for panels, and more particularly to a side-mount spigot assembly for securing and positioning barricade or fencing panels. BACKGROUND

[0002] Glass panels are widely used in modern architecture for various applications such as balustrades, fencing, and partitions. These panels require secure and reliable mounting systems to ensure stability and safety. Side-mount spigots represent one type of mounting assembly commonly employed to attach glass panels to supporting structures.

[0003] Conventional side-mount spigots often utilise countersunk screws to fasten the spigot body to a wall bracket or other supporting structure. This configuration can present challenges in terms of installation, adjustment, and aesthetics. The visible countersunk screws may detract from the clean, minimalist appearance desired in many contemporary architectural designs.

[0004] Mounting systems for glass panels typically need to accommodate variations in panel thickness and structural surfaces. Adjustability is a desirable feature to allow for precise positioning and leveling of glass panels after installation. However, many existing mounting solutions offer limited adjustment capabilities, making it difficult to achieve optimal alignment.

[0005] For examples, AU-2016100859-A4 describes a utility model for an adjustable clip for glass used in building and decorating engineering. The key components of the clip include: 2026201891   12 Mar 2026 a first clipping plate, a second clipping plate; a warping plate inside the first clipping plate's receiving cavity; a pushing element; a spacer inside the second clipping plate's receiving cavity; the pushing element penetrates the second clipping plate and is supported against the spacer. AU-2020202943-A1 describes a patent for frameless glass fencing components made from engineering plastics, specifically polyacrylamide with reinforcing fillers. In WO-2015027295-A1, various embodiments are described with different flange configurations, clamping mechanisms. WO-2015047109-A1 describes a body with a curved side surface with least one clamping member to secure the panel edge. An adjacent side surface on the clamping member that cooperates with the body's curved surface. Actuators that allow pivoting of the panel relative to the body.

[0006] The materials used in glass panel mounting assemblies are a consideration, especially for outdoor applications exposed to moisture and environmental factors. Mounting systems should provide adequate strength and durability to securely support the weight of glass panels while withstanding expected loads and forces.

[0007] Installation efficiency is another area where improvements in mounting systems can be beneficial. Designs that simplify the installation process and reduce the number of components or steps required can potentially save time and labour costs. However, this consideration must be balanced with maintaining the necessary adjustability and secure attachment of the glass panels.

[0008] As architectural trends continue to emphasize open, transparent spaces, there is an ongoing interest in glass panel mounting solutions that combine functionality, aesthetics, and ease of use. Advancements in mounting system design have the potential to address existing limitations and provide enhanced performance for a wide range of applications. 2026201891   12 Mar 2026 SUMMARY

Rather, the description also encompasses combinations and modifications to those exemplary aspects described herein.

[0022] The side mount spigot assembly may provide a mechanism for securely mounting and adjusting components in various applications.

[0023] Referring to Fig. 1 there is provided a preferred embodiment of a body member 1 according to the invention. The body member 1 has an opening or slot 3 located on the upper surface of the first post portion 5 for receiving a panel (not shown). A U-shaped movable clamping member 4 is movable against a first post portion 5 and a second post portion 6 of the body member 1. The U-shaped movable clamping member 4 is adapted to receive the panel and may be vertically movable before the panel is vertically inserted into the slot 3. The clamping member 4 may be adapted to allow for adjusting the titling angle of the panel relatively to the body member 1 by the user. The first post portion 5 comprises apertures 7 between an external surface 19 and the corresponding internal surface 9 to receive screws 10 for adjustably supporting the tilting angle of the clamping member 4, and hence the panel.

[0024] Referring to Fig. 3, Fig. 9 and Fig. 10, there is provided a preferred embodiment of a spigot according to the invention. As shown in Fig.3 and Fig.10, the spigot comprises a rear plate 15 having at least one mounting hole 17 for attaching the rear plate 15 to a vertical surface. The second post portion 6 of the body member 1 comprises an opening 16 at a distal end, which is dimensioned and shaped to either rest upon or fit over the rear plate 15. The rear plate 15 further comprises a projecting section extending from its perimeter. The second post portion 6 comprises an aperture 11 between an external surface 20 and the opening 16 to receive a fastener 12. The fastener 14 is configured to secure the body member 1 to the projecting section of rear plate 15.

[0025] The first post portion 5 includes screw apertures 7 that extend between a front surface 8 and an inner surface 9. The screw apertures 7 may be configured to receive adjusting screws 10 that can engage with the clamping member 4. The clamping member 4 may fit between these portions and can be adjusted using the adjusting screws 10 inserted through the screw apertures 7.

[0026] The second post portion 6 includes side screw apertures 11 that may accommodate side screws 12. The side screw apertures 11 and side screws 12 may provide a means for securing the assembly to a mounting surface. The arrangement of these components may allow for the adjustment and securing of a panel within the slot 3.
