Abstract

Abstract A cleaning apparatus for cleaning the lining of a dewatering bore has a central shaft with an axis and a cleaning body mounted to the central shaft and arranged to rotate about the axis. The cleaning body has a helical activating projection extending away from the axis, such that the differential water pressure during axial movement of the cleaning apparatus causes rotation. The cleaning apparatus includes brushes extending radially away from the activating projection. 20 26 20 25 80 07 A pr 2 02 6 2 0 2 6 2 0 2 5 8 0 0 7 A p r 2 0 2 6 2 0 2 6 2 0 2 5 8 0 0 7 A p r 2 0 2 6 10 14 Fig. 7 40 30 50 3 / 3 30 22 0 18 0000000 50 Fig. 6 52 50 12 20 16 14 22 10 30 20 26 20 25 80 07 A pr 2 02 6 1 0 1 4 4 0 3 0 5 0 3 / 3 3 0 2 2 1 8 5 0 5 2 5 0 1 2 2 0 1 6 1 4 2 2 1 0 3 0 2 0 2 6 2 0 2 5 8 0 0 7 A p r 2 0 2 6 1 0 1 4 4 0 3 0 5 0 3 / 3 3 0 2 2 1 8 5 0 5 2 5 0 1 2 2 0 1 6 1 4 2 2 1 0 3 0 2 0 2 6 2 0 2 5 8 0 0 7 A p r 2 0 2 6

Claims

1. A cleaning apparatus having a central shaft with an axis and a cleaning body mounted to the central shaft and arranged to rotate about the axis, the cleaning body having a helical activating projection extending away from the axis, the cleaning apparatus including cleaning members extending radially away from the activating projection.

2. A cleaning apparatus as claimed in claim 1, wherein the cleaning members are resiliently deformable bristles.

3. A cleaning apparatus as claimed in claim 1 or claim 2, wherein the cleaning apparatus includes a plurality of brushes extending axially along the cleaning body, the brushes being spaced about a circumference of the activating projection.

4. A cleaning apparatus as claimed in claim 3, wherein the brushes are equiangularly spaced around the circumference of the activating protection.

5. A cleaning apparatus as claimed in claim 3 or claim 4, wherein each brush extends between two angularly aligned but axially spaced locations on the activating portion.

6. A cleaning apparatus as claimed in any preceding claim, wherein the cleaning body is formed from a central cylindrical portion from which the activating projection projects.

7. A cleaning apparatus as claimed in claim 6, wherein the activating projection has an outer diameter about 2.5 times the outer diameter of the central cylindrical portion.

8. A cleaning apparatus as claimed in claim 6 or claim 7, wherein the axial length of the activating portion is preferably about 1.5 times the circumference of the central cylindrical portion.

9. A cleaning apparatus as claimed in any preceding claim, wherein the activating portion spirals through about 750° around the axis.2026202580   07 Apr 202610. A cleaning apparatus as claimed in any preceding claim, wherein the activating portion has a slope of around 0.8.

11. A cleaning apparatus as claimed in any preceding claim, wherein the cleaning apparatus includes direction flow restrictors which generally permit the flow of water in one axial direction and generally prevent the flow of water in the opposite axial direction.

12. A cleaning apparatus as claimed in claim 11, wherein the flow restrictors are formed by resilient members such as rubber flaps extending over holes in the activating portion.

13. A cleaning apparatus as claimed in claim 11 or claim 12, wherein the flow restrictors prevent the flow of water upwards through the activating portion and permit the flow of water downwards through the activating portion.

14. A cleaning apparatus as claimed in any preceding claim, wherein the cleaning apparatus includes a weighted body mounted to a lower end thereof.HOLME, GARETHBy his Patent AttorneysARMOUR IPP2586AU01
