Locking hinge mechanism for a foldable structure

Abstract

16 Abstract A foldable structure comprises a base frame, a roof frame movable relative to the base frame, and at least one foldable column extending between the base frame and the roof frame. The foldable column comprises first and second column sections pivotally connected by a hinge having first and second hinge portions pivotally connected about a pivot axis. The first and second hinge portions define respective apertures offset from the pivot axis. A locking pin is slidably movable between a locking position, in which the locking pin extends through the respective apertures to restrain pivotal movement of the hinge, and a release position, in which the locking pin is withdrawn from the aperture of the first hinge portion to permit pivotal movement of the hinge. An actuation arrangement couples the locking pin to one of the first and second column sections such that relative longitudinal movement of the first and second column sections causes movement of the locking pin between the locking position and the release position.
