Improved lid locking system and lid lifter

Abstract

There is disclosed a lid locking apparatus and method for open top intermodal transport containers including a pivoting latch for securing the lid to the container, a locking mechanism operable between a locking position which prevents pivoting of the latch from its latched position, and a mechanism actuated to unlock the latch to allow removal of the lid.
