Abstract Disclosed are embodiments of an apparatus (102), system (10), and method for performing a sleeve gastrectomy. The apparatus (102) can include a bougie (105) for insertion into an interior of a stomach (12), the bougie (105) having a proximal bougie end (106) and a distal bougie end (108), an inflation lumen (120) having a proximal lumen end (124) and a distal lumen end (122), the inflation lumen (120) extending from the proximal bougie end (106) through the distal bougie end (108), a fluid delivery system (134, 136) coupled with the proximal lumen end (124), the fluid delivery system (134, 136) being operably configured to deliver positive pressure in a predetermined positive pressure range into the stomach (12), and a monitor (402) coupled with the proximal lumen end (124) operably configured for the monitoring of pressure or volume within the stomach (12).
