Abstract A system (1) and method (1000) for collecting waste electrical cables (Q), comprising the following steps, on a collection station (10): a) reading (1005) a unique identifier (120) of a collection container (100); b) determining (1010) the weight of waste electrical cables (Q) contained in the collection container (100); c) receiving (1015) a selection of a category of cables; d) displaying (1020) a trade-in value; e) receiving (1025) user input indicative of the acceptance of the displayed trade-in value; f) receiving (1030) validation input from an operator; g) in response to the validation input, generating instructions to associate (1035) in a database (460) the unique identifier (120) of the collection container (100) with the determined weight and selected cable category, and generating instructions to edit (1040) a receipt (600) comprising at least the trade-in value.
